Better than in many games since the turn of the year, but we were never going to score and we can't keep a clean sheet so the result was inevitable. For my money Tonge was our best player. Hill obviously didn't think so as he subbed him. Not for the first time this season I was baffled. I'm pretty certain we'll stay up, but I'm just as certain we'll be relegated next season. You can't hope to survive in the Championship when you sign as many players that lack the necessary quality as Hill has done. I've just got to ask myself if I want to be around to see it. At the moment it feels like madness having my Saturday ruined every second week.
I'm sure he was, but his performance wasn't suffering We were much worse after he went off. Not that I think we would have scored if he'd stayed on, so it's irrelevant really, but at least he was one player in the team who was passing the ball well.
Tonge was one of the better players but he was knackered. Wiseman mom for me. Nouble played well, held ball up, but he needed support up with him, couldn't hold the ball up indefinitely!
Agree 100% with all you said there. We'll probably survive by the skin of our teeth but next season is going to be grim. There's just no quality there to trouble teams at Championship level and no prospects of getting anyone in that will. We will be absolute odds on certs for the drop and rightly so. I'll be getting a season ticket because it's just in my blood. Doubt I'll be exactly counting the days down to August though.
I agree Phil, he was my man of the match but I think he was running on empty when Hill brought him off.
Re: I'm sure he was, but his performance wasn't suffering And every now and then in a forward direction. Our team fell apart becase we lost Butterfield. Who went forward with the ball, who beat players, who sprayed it about in a forward direction. Vaz Te helped but he was not always there. What annoys me more than anything....ever....on this board is that we had pillock after pillock denigrating Butterfield ....for example blaming him for not being a proper captain against Ipswich (second half only ovo).... Look what you've got now. You now have what you deserve. And it'll get worse And
Re: I'm sure he was, but his performance wasn't suffering Our team fell apart becase we lost Butterfield, Nar it weakened because the loss of several players. VAZTE DRINKWATER BUTTERFIELD and the injury of o'brien. Confidence left the players and so on.
Re: I'm sure he was, but his performance wasn't suffering Just who is supposed to give the players confidence? The manager by any chance? The one that sees and talks to the players every day? The one that picks the tactics and sets out the team? Or maybe its the fans fault for turning up and wanting us to win or at least flaming try to win?
I didn't think he looked too tired, certainly no more so than anyone else on the pitch and he still looked to be our best player to me. That said I can see why he was taken off as his position is naturally the one to disappear if you're going to switch to 4-4-2.
Agree, but The manager should have stopped going on about it though and show more faith in what he had left to get results.
Re: I'm sure he was, but his performance wasn't suffering You get confidence by winning football matches and drawing matches away. The fans btw where shocking today. Moaning when nouble passed to the only play available. Disgusting really.
Re: I'm sure he was, but his performance wasn't suffering I ask again , who is supposed to give these players confidence? I will make it simpler for you. Is it the job of a well paid manager or the supporter who has to pay to see them? If you think it is the fans then you need some therapy
