If the board are spending £8m it won’t be recouped from player sales. Four players set to leave at the end of the season. No promotion would likely lead to others leaving as well. I haven’t included goalkeepers as the loan signing of Gauci shows what they think of our keepers.

These are all make believe though.

a player is worth what another club are prepared to pay.
As things stand the squad is worth very little

Take no notice of transfermarkt valuations. Theyre always lower than what players will leave for, though they are much more accurate now than a couple of years ago

Whilst those figures are a very loose guideline, it does paint something of a picture.
For example, we all expected Connell and possibly Philips to be our next golden eggs as £5m+ sales. And Jalo was earmarked as one for the future who would, also, one day fetch us a good fee when he moved onto the next stage of his career. But these players are moving backwards.
My own theory is that, despite all these tactical coaches, who is in charge of fitness coaching?
When we had Sedgy, the physio, at the club, we had a squad of players who, regardless of talent, could run for 90+ minutes (with the exception of a couple who would give their all for an hour then get replaced).
For me, that’s gone. The players all look spent and fatigued far too early, even in the first half. The number of late goals we concede is an indicator.
I don’t know whose job is what, behind the scenes, but I don’t see our players as a finely tuned bunch of athletes any more.

Pines, Benson, Humphrys & McCarthy all out of contract at the end of the season. I would release the all regardless of what leave we’re in.

And would look to sell all players in their last year of contract next season. Again, regardless of what league we’re in.

Great point about under Sedgy. I was looking back at the 2016-17 squad the other day & we had a tiny squad compared to what we do now.

Janko, Sessi & Aidy White all got crocked early & missed most of the season.

After the keepers you had Roberts, McDonald & Jackson at centre back.

Full backs were Bree, Yiadom & Kpekawa.

Centre mids were Hourihane, Scowen & Morsy.

Kent, Hammill & Watkins as wide men.

Winnall, Bradshaw & Armstrong up top.

We also had Moncur who threw a tantrum & left on loan & wasn’t replaced & Elliot Lee who barely had a kick but it was a tiny squad to what we have now.

They were such a fit side too & competing against much richer clubs with presumably also had better facilities.

Were supposed to be a pressing team as well though personally I see very little or is that just me?
Your right about fitness though it's a very good point, you could chuck in Struber's and Vals team they were fit and pressed the hell out of teams.

Would Sedgy have been in charge of fitness back then? I wouldn’t have thought so as wasn’t he physio during his time here?

I have thought for a couple of years that our fitness hasn’t been quite there though so agree on the overall point. Didn’t someone say that our fitness coach left/was removed recently and replaced with the ET (phone home) guy?
