I know its only rumour, but it smacks to me of wanting a pay rise for their contribution to us being relegated. Football - the only sport where failure is constantly rewarded (and paid for by fans). Football - ****.
It's smack of to me they dont think there wages should drop as much as they have due to being league one players
Our overall revenue is likely to drop somewhere between 40% to 60% (based on the £4-5m estimate fall) Personally i'd have no issue offering a new contract with that same % drop built in. If an average player wants to go elsewhere and gets a better contract offer for more, fine by me.
That's all well and good but what we going to do come first game of season play kids or just field 8 players ?
If any of them are on over 500 quid a week they are robbing BFC, its about time these so called footballers entered the real world
Trouble is you have no idea what the contract terms are or even whether they have really been rejected Bit harsh to tar all with the same brush - I know football is a team game but if all had played with the same passion and commitment as Jim O'Brien we would still be in the Championship so if he is told hypothetically he has to take a 50% pay cut as the price of failure I could see why he might consider his other options
According to my grapevine Farnham he was considering them before we knew our fate. Blackpool being one.
We'll be playing a lot of kids. And we'll be supplementing that with signings and those still under contract. If we can have a squad of 20-25 instead of the ridiculous volumes we've had the last few years, we might actually create a bit of stability and start to ingrain some unity and become a team with a style of play. We've 8 senior contracted players, 4 out of contract players we're waiting to hear from (including Dibble). 3 youth players who've had a decent amount of experience (RNL, Rose and Digby) and then the latest batch of kids. Thats not that bad a basis to build from at this stage.
