In light of Williams and Phenix leaving on loan, I wanted to see how many players people could think of who have left Oakwell on loan and come back to play for us and have been much improved The only one I can think of for us is Dale Jennings who was brilliant in the second half of the season we got relegated after coming back from loan at MK Dons
Dale Jennings was just as bad when he came back apart from maybe an handful of games at most. Very few guys come back better because we usually send them to a team too far down the leagues.
I don't think he was. He was a shining light in that part of the season. Before the loan spell he was rubbish, came back and was fantastic. Just a shame he could never recreate that form in league 1
Can't think of one to be honest. I don't think Jennings actually improved as a player as subsequent events have proved. As far as Williams and Phenix are concerned, I think LJ has made his mind up and I doubt either will play for out first team again.
Jennings came back but his new found improvement only lasted for a handful of games. He soon reverted back to being useless.
Danny Rose should have done! Looked good for Bury, then comes back to us and..... we flog him! Still annoyed about that.
That's a point. How's he getting on now at Bury. I know he had a spell when he signed where he scored a few close range tap ins, but not heard much since. Does anyone know if he is playing regularly/scoring many? Wrong to let him go or a good sale? We tend to get loan signings that go on and do well; Walters, Rodriguez, Wood (to an extent!), sure there are others.
Rose played 40 and scored 10 last season for them. Was in and out of the starting 11 towards the end of the season and hasn't played this year yet
Cheers. Good lad Danny. Didn't know he got as many as 10, or played 40 times! Bury splashing the cash so assume he's down pecking order again unless he's injured. He should take heart from Andre Gray. He was about 22/23 before he started scoring in Conference/L2. Now he's a £9m player after 1 season in championship!!!
Stewart Barraclough IMO he left us in the third tier as a good player but came back to us in a league higher a better player with all the experience of his days at NUFC. Oops sorry just noticed the loan bit DOH
