i might be way out here but

Could it be anything to do with the fact that we loaned nardiello from man utd and he sat wasting on the bench for a year?

Perhaps they don't trust us anymore and want guarentees that we wont do the same again. Couldn't blame them really.

When you haven't won a game in six nobody should feel secure...

I believe in the 'team spirit' that Ritchie has built by showing loyalty, but right now patience is growing thin and somebody needs to throw the cat amongst the pigeons by shaking the side up. If I was a Barnsley player now (as opposed to a loyal Barnsley fan) I'd be thinking:

    1) We're a losing side and we're probably going to lose again this week...

    2) Doesn't really make any difference - I'm not getting dropped, am I?

If the boss wanted to give the lads the opportunity to face the challenge of a higher division - well he's done it - and unfortunately one point out of eighteen says they've failed. We simply cannot accept the possibility of relegation this season, it just can't be allowed to happen. Don't get me wrong - as far as I'm concerned, there should be place in the squad for every one of those lads who secured our promotion, but the time has come for at least three decent singings capable of leading the way forward.

The reason probably is because the player involved is on the verge of the 1st team squad at Man United.

This happened with Rossi at Newcastle, they loaned him to Newcastle with the intentions he would go back in January after playing 1st team football for a few months. This isn't happening at the moment.
