    For ps4 at least

Am i right in thinking that its gone the way of xbox live and now requires a subscription to play against friend on line via psn plus. But any users on the same console can use the plus account

Yeah it looks as though you have to pay folding the deal into Playstation plus it seems, you do get free games and stuff though so it might be worth your while but you'd have to weigh that up for yourself, mate.

Your right in what your thinking andy although i will say i found the playstation plus cracking value on ps3, had 100s of quids worth of free games for the £40(i think) subscription, if they carry on down that line with ps4 games then its well worth it regardless of providing online access

Much better value than xbox live gold. The only thing gold really gives you for your money is the ability to play online, whereas PS+ offers so much more.

So, as an old Xbox 360 owner, who has just got a ps3 mainly for the blue ray capabilities and ability to stream Netflix without shelling out for a wireless adapter, what can I do with PSN for no extra cost?

As far as I know you can play online for free. Unless they have changed it. Had ps3 for years and online was always free.

No, Xbox live gold gives you lots of free services. Lots of TV apps and other things too.

All the same tv apps you can access for free anyway on psn though, ps plus is much better value

Never understood why you need Xbox live gold to access tv apps like Netflix and sky that you already pay a supcription for!

Would need to look things up. But from experience Xbox live was a lot better than PlayStation Network.

Had a PS3, but more mates had Xbox's. Found games a lot smoother on Xbox and never could argue about paying £3.50 a month for a quality service.

Don't mind paying for live - get what you pay for which is a far smoother service than psn

I got PS4 on release day, the shop I work at saved me one so no queuing up. I owned a 360 but was out off getting Xbox one by it's ridiculous price, not to mention 6 of the 9 apps on it don't work in GB until late 2014. I pay around a fiver a month for ps+ and it's worth every penny! Free games, better online gameplay and a hell of a lot smoother running compared to xbox live.

You do know you get 2 free games a month on Xbox live too?

Watching a tv programme too they also said the one has more working on launch than the PS4.

And seems annoying that to have a 2nd screen u need a PS Vita rather than your phone like on Xbox.

End of the day both are similar, but Xbox wins it for me die to Halo, Forza and Gears of War. Depends which brand your a fan of most. I switched to Xbox after after Sony messed up the launch of the PS3.
