I read a lot of negative views after the Scunny game and was wondering what your expectations were for the game in Blackpool. I know they seem to be going through a bit of a transformation so I'd like to think we could exploit that and perhaps come away with a win. Do you see a victory or is this a game where defeat is on the cards? I'd like to think we can come away with a win. Just like last season where a lot of our good results came away from home. Thoughts.
Got this one down as a draw Ian but if we get the rub we may get the three points IMO. Can't see us losing this one and the performance will be interesting one to analyze as the Wigan game was a write off both in result and performance IMO.
Marlon that 4-0 loss to Wigan really surprised me. In our friendly with them they really looked nothing special. I know you should never take too much out of friendlies but at the same time no one likes to lose, Ever. But 4-0 nil was a right thumping. I'd like to think that it was just one of those days and normal service will be resumed as soon as possible. We've got to take advantage of Blackpool's disarray ATM. 2-0 the Tykes, You heard it here first.
We seem to drop on teams like this at begining of season last year it was wolves who played really well against us but in that game we almost gave as good as we got. Then wolves sold their prem players and weren't so good. If Wigan keep the nucleus of that team they'll storm this division IMO. Our season starts tomoz so come on u reds . Was gonna bang a tenner on 1_1 but it looks like a fiver each on 1_1 and your prediction 2_0
No it doesn't. It started last Saturday like everyone else's. Trouble is we are already three points and five goals worse off than Yeovil. Long way to go but we need to drop all this special human beings crap as the players are starting to believe it.
Depends on whether we keep on banging everything upto O`Grady out wide and still have a lack of movement off the ball. If we can rectify this then points will be had.
I would be happy with a point to be honest. The game I've got my eye on is Charlton next Saturday where I want revenge for last season's 6-0 thumping! A draw today and thatwin would give us 4 points from 3 games. I'd happily take that.
Just scoring a couple of goals and not getting hammered would be nice...a draw would be lovely, don't see why we can't beat 'em though.
New season - new challenge for Flicker and the M's to cope with a long season here we start off level rather than a mini season where a siege mentality and attacking every game like a cup final worked. Biggest disappointment for me v Wigan was that we never got near them. The midfield 2 of Dawson and Perkins were as ineffective as any I've ever seen in a Barnsley shirt on the day - we'll see if that's down to tactics, their ability or Wigan's superiority as the season commences. We miss Etuhu big time- his energy and coverage of the pitch breaks a lot of opposition attacks up before they start and he helps set a lot of ours up. Mellis should never be played out wide. We need some quality at the side of O'Grady. That's all the problems as I see it, don't ask me to find solutions, I'm not that bright.... Hopefully Flicker saw what we all did and will address it as the season progresses. If last Saturday proved anything it's that last season's momentum won't be enough to carry us through this season. But, 2 games. 1 against a Prem side in all bar the shouting, 1 in the Capital One cup where Champ sides generally seem to struggle to get going. Context.
Morning Ian Extremely Northern has summed up my feelings quite accurately, I don't think I could've worded it better. No need to panic, as we'll have players coming back from injury & suspension as the month progresses. If someone comes into the team as cover for the absentees, it's up to them to grab their opportunity.
Hoping fora draw or better. Until we get digby and etuhu back in the middle and play mellis behind the front two we will struggle imho. Dawson and Perkins are not the answer together in the middle.
The way I see things is that, we played a top team in Wigan, in the first game of the season, where nobody knows where there squad is at. 4-0 was a little unseen, but its not the first time we've got hammered on the opening day, I can remember at least 2 other instances of us getting battered on the opening day. Then there was the cup game. Anything can happen in the cup, we of all teams should know that. From what I heard it was more a case of chances wasted rather than us not creating anything. We're missing a few key players now in Etuhu, Jennings, Cranie and Nyatanga, and we're still a striker short. But things will click into place. Its all about scoring that first goal. I think we're at a disadvantage today with us playing the day after Blackpool and going all the way to penalties. But I reckon our decent record in recent years at Bloomfield road will stand us in good stead. Im going 1-0 the super reds, Co'gba.
