I didn’t go to Wembley so shouldn’t/can’t comment on the problems caused by a minority of Barnsley/Cardiff “fans”. However, it seems that we all have different opinions on whether these so called “fans” were hooligans, drunks, louts etc. What we can agree on is that abuse, be it verbal or physical, should not be tolerated in today’s society regardless of whoever it is targeted at. This is purely my opinion but, as much as I enjoy football there are far more important things in life than sport. For instance right now there are so many people, men, women and children who are fighting for their lives, battling illnesses that most of us may never have heard of or fighting wars to stop oppression and give others the right to live in a peaceful society. I am asking you all to stop arguing about who said what and when etc., and to think about those who really do have something to moan about. Sorry for the rant. Laura.
Well said, the majority of people denying their supporters ever do owt wrong (both Cardiff and Barnsley fans) are blinkered. EVERY set of fans has idiots, racists etc but they are a small minority. Yes some clubs have a higher number of idiots, but it's unfair to tarnish a whole club in such a way. I met some perfectly decent Cardiff fans but I also appreciate others' comments about trouble causers amongst them.
I only saw one small incident and that was early on when a group came upto me and my brother. Rest of Cardiff fans were fine. I have seen / hard far worse from our own folks away from home.
It can only stop Laura when when we get accused of things we havent done and it shouldnt be taking up any space on the board anymore but what should I do when told "We are racists"? No, Im going to stick up for us on that. Some of us acted like idiots thats in the past , me getting called a name, its in the past but whats new today is we are now racists. Im getting well pissed off with all of this. Yeah go, people jump in and give it the "**** off where you come from" again, if that really is the general feeling its not us that needs to look at ourselves, at least we admit to our wrongs. I have posted here as the debates have been good and civilised in the majority but we all deserve the right to stick up for ourselves and if you look at what I have stuck up for cardiff isnt that much, the majority I have agreed with and done my best to apolagise as far as possible. Same with wishing you all luck from now on in. Sorry Laura for swearing and taking up more space than neccessary really.
Sorry Laura I like the sentiment but it just isn't that easy. People had bad experiences, they just can't be wiped cleaned by agreeing to disagree.
You constantly miss the point though How can you possibly deny that incidents happened when you weren't there when they happened? I guarantee you that there were idiots in both ends on Sunday and that there were 'fans' of both clubs abusing the opposition. Anyone branding a whole club or its fans as 'racist' and the like is idiotic but you seem extremely blinkered and living in a dreamland if you really think all Cardiff fans are angels. I know we have idiots in our fans and don't pretend otherwise. I have friends who have told me the abuse they got from people in Cardiff colours; buses attacked, verbal abuse, spitting, racism etc but I suspect that these were relatively isolated. But equally you denying that anyone's done anything wrong winds people up who personally suffered or know someone else that did. I politely recommend you forget it and go back to your own board mate.
but I think you have to accept that SOME cardiff fans are racist and it is highly likely that they were giving racist abuse on Sunday. Just like SOME barnsley fans are and were. Every single club has got racist fans, every last one of them, and the only way to get rid of them is to admit they are there and then do something about it.
I posted because I'm fed up with all the bickering. Unfortunately some people on here continue to put things just to see if others will bite . The problem with trying to put forward opinions in writing is that it is difficult for the person reading to know just how you mean it to read. Sarcasm and seriousness can sometimes be interpreted the other way round. I am still young but I have been brought up to think first before I speak, not judge a person by their colour, religion or beliefs and that if a joke hurts one person then it's not a joke etc. As you can probably tell I'm still feeling "yuk" as I'm in pain and therefore on my soapbox.
RE: You constantly miss the point though Equally, there are plenty people saying incidents happened when they didn't see them happen.
I know. I feeling sorry for myself and angry at that ( I shouldn't be complaining) when I know a little girl who's fighting for her life and reading the bitterness on here is making me feel worse. http://www.postpals.co.uk/pals/Samantha+H or http://www.samanthahughes.co.uk/ to see who I'm talking about.
I'd make a good bet........... I think some folk are hijacking the issue to make themselves feel a bit better cos we lost. Had we won I doubt there would be anywhere near the number of posts there have been cos folk would still be out drinking and celebrating.
I will probably be slated for this but what happened on Sunday should be put to one side (for now at least). WE( the team and the supporters) have to focus on the rest of the season and staying in this division. I have to concentrate on getting better.
Right then you asked for it For a start the priorities in that post are all wrong they should be 1. You have to concentrate on getting better. 2. WE( the team and the supporters) have to focus on the rest of the season and staying in this division. Expert 3. what happened on Sunday should be put to one side (for now at least). Actually I dont mind taking about Sunday - just wish we would talk about football instead of arguing over who has the worst fans.
RE: I will probably be slated for this but get well soon Laura. Try not to stress bout ppl bickering. You won't stop em.
Thanks. It's easier said than done trying not to get stressed. I'm at that age when I hate being ill and hate being off school and away from my friends.
