forget or underestimate what David Flitcroft did last season. He paid for his bad spell like all managers by getting the sack.

I'd like you to read what one of the players said on hearing about Flitcroft's demise.

"Gutted to see the gaffer go yesterday,we achieved something special last season and that's what I'll remember from his time as manager"

Those echo my own sentiments and please god we can be saying the same about Danny Wilson (achieving something special) at the end of the season.

I supported Flitcroft while he was here. Never got on his case, never asked for him to be sacked, never called him names. Continued to argue that he deserved more time. But now he's gone. Now I support Danny Wilson.

    He rescued us last season.

He was sadly out of his depth this season.

In context his achievements will be remembered, as will Keef's run up to Christmas, before the midfield was sold off.
Keef's next 12 months were a disaster as we know.

The preceding few seasons have been a bit of a step back, because finances weren't there. Money has been spent this season.
I hope it pays off. Jennings was certainly a good signing.

Who's done that? I don't think any Barnsley fan will ever forget or play down the achievement he did to keep us up last season.

I thought that the Flitcroft survival was one of the great stories for any football club. The way I read it was that it was achieved by a sort of 'worker's co-operative' with two better-known managers turning us down, but the players always wanting Flicker. In the end, that mutual commitment and respect between Flicker and the players was what swung it, both with his getting the job and with the players being prepared to go to the last scrap to succeed for him and for each other. It will always stand as a great story of team-work and commitment to achieve a specific goal. It was a pity that Flicker got into difficulty when it became an issue of planning a season-long campaign and organising teams accordingly.

What Flicker should take away from the experience is that it was amongst the great stories of football survival and always will be, especially as it went down to the ninetieth minute of the last game. Thanks for the indelible memory, Flicker, and best wishes at Bury - hope you score four every week, but don't forget to organise the defence as well!!!!

I was sad when Flitcroft got the sack, but I can't argue about the timing of it.

There was no coming back for him after what Birmingham did to us, and he absolutely had to lose his job.

That doesn't mean that the back end of last season wasn't wonderful, because it was. We'll never experience that again. The Leicester, Hull and Huddersfield games in particular were very special.

I like Flitcroft, and I hope he does well.

As I said, though, the decision to sack him was correct. I also think the decision to appoint Danny was correct. He hasn't had quite the effect I had hoped for, but had we accrued the three points we dropped against Wednesday and Ipswich, I'd have been shouting his name from the rooftops. I believe he will get it right, whether that is keeping us up narrowly, or re-building us in League One.

We're in safe hands. He was the right appointment, and he'll fix us, be it in the short-term or the longer term.

Last season and this season are like chalk and cheese. I'll never forget last season for good reasons but equally I will never forget this season for bad reasons.

Flicker's bad spell didn't get him the sack. It was the absence of any hope he would be able to turned fortunes around that did for him. If there had been any belief he could halt the slide, he might have been okay. That and the general consensus that the Rochdale Experiment had to come to an end.

He was at the helm during a truly memorable/remarkable spell for my football club. It was 'special', he did 'wow' us, and certainly 'galvanized' a pretty brow beaten squad of players. Both he and his players during that spell, will always be fondly remembered by me.

Just as I fondly remember Keith's decent four month spell.

I said upon his dismissal (which I never called for.. I did call him names once or twice, though) that 'in time' I'd forget the bad spell just as I did with Keith. That time came a couple of weeks ago.

I hope they both get the success and happiness they deserve, both in football and life in general.

Why, oh why are we still on about this? Don't get me wrong I really admired what we did last season ans was really sorry it didn't work out dor all involved this season ....

But It's gone, finished, end of.

Let's focus our attention on the here and now and supporting Danny and the boys achieving what we know is ours - Championship football.

He amassed 57 points in his 45 games in charge. That's the same as Mark Robins did in an entire season. The problem was, Flicker was too naive to think that he could rely on the same players who's fight last season kept us in this division, to kick on for a better season this. To be honest, a lot of our fans thought we could too. Sadly the fight of last season seemed to get kicked out of ys as early as the first game. I also feel Flicker tried too hard to play not to conceed, then only go all out once we were trailing a game rather than go for the kill like we did last year.

Time to move on, Danny needs our support now.

I cannot understand why we keep having threads like this one. It was a great run last season, this season it was shocking.

Using your logic Alf Ramsey would still be England manager !!

There was no decent four month spell under the berk.

He won seven in eleven between 1st October and 10th December. This run was brought to a shuddering halt when we conceded five second half goals to Ipswich.
