If you fell into an active volcano with some Pear Drops or Pineapple Cubes in your pocket would they caramelise or would they disintegrate at molecular level and instantly become mixed up with your pocket lining?

Please supply answers for both cotton and polyester materials.

Fast Caremelisation , followed by disintegration through boiling.

    Thats my guess!

I assume you don't really want an answer

if you do I can provide one.

With the high temperatures of the air near the magma you'd start to burn as you fell in (~1200 deg C). Molten rock is quite dense so you'd most likely sit on the top and burn, just like a candle, rather than sink. I don't think 1200 deg C is hot enough to vapourise a body instantly and the bones and teeth would survive. The sweets in your pocket (cotton or polyester) would burn along with the material that contained them.

By the way I've never tried this and I'm basing this answer on a few TGA measurements one of my students just did in the lab.

I think you'd be better off just putting them in a pan on a gentle heat, stirring occasionally.

They'd both get very hot and melt

They would then burn your thigh, which is very painfull!
