My "second" team as they are local is Cork City. At this current time Cork are on the receiving end of a FIFA decision similar to the one made on Mascherano for Liverpool - only this time, as the club does not have the same clout the decision has gone against Cork City. This effects two players, one being Colin Healy (I'd say ex- Barnsley favorite, but may get lynched) and Gareth Farrelly. For Cork City these are probably the two biggest signings they have ever made. A campaign is currently underway to try and change the situation. A petition is up and running at http://www.gopetition.com/online/11771.html and we would all appreciate it if you felt you could lend your support. Thanks for listening, and I'll see some of you at Oakwell on Monday. Please note that over the last five years the Reds have always won the matches we have come over for - so maybe thats a good omen....
Sour grapes I'm afraid. Whether you play within the FIFA start/finish deadlines or not, if a player plays for two clubs within that timescale then he is ommited from playing for anyone else. Just because the Eircom League, and others, don't follow the start/finish time of the Professional League doesn't mean that they can claim exception. July 1st to June 30th..........it may be time for leagues to re-arrange their structure.
