Wentworth Castle Trust has made it to the finals for the National Lottery Awards! The final stage of voting gets underway on the 2nd September, with local heritage project Wentworth Castle Trust, one of the top three nominated in the Best Heritage Project category. Lottery players raise £28 million each week for projects all across the UK. Since the Wentworth Castle Trust was established in 2002, a total of £17m has been raised from a wide variety of private and public funders including the Heritage Lottery Fund. This has enabled a number of historic buildings and monuments to be restored on site including: Stainborough Castle, Wentworth Castle, the Corinthian Temple, the Sun Monument, the Gun Room and Duke of the Argyll’s Monument, the North Ha Ha and most recently, the Rotunda. The 60-acre pleasure gardens have also been restored including the Union Jack Gardens and national collections of Rhododendrons, Camellias and Magnolias have been enhanced. Approximately 35,000 trees have been planted in Stainborough Park. New Director, Claire Herring said: “We are thrilled and delighted to have made it to the finals of The National Lottery Awards. We are genuinely grateful to have the chance to show everyone who has ever played the Lottery the real difference their money has made to our project – we simply could not have done it without them. Now we are hoping that our local community, our friends and supporters will come out to vote for us to win so that our staff, volunteers and everyone involved at Wentworth Castle Gardens receive the recognition they deserve.” http://www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards/best-heritage-project/138/ :nails:
Re: Very worthy project Done - in memory of my Mum for whom that was a special place. Hope they do it!
Done and good luck to them. If **** like the royal opera house can get funds then something like this should be nailed on for funds.
Re: Very worthy project "It profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world.................but for Wales?" A Man for All Seasons?
