Must have meant a lot to him scoring against the club who's (ex) manager got shut of him saying "he'll never make a footballer". He has his critics, but for me he has more good games than bad.
If he doesn't start on Wednesday then I'll seriously start to question wilson, can't see why he wouldn't start. Deserves and needs a good run of starting game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's okay saying that Phil but he'll start 1 game then get benched next etc etc. needs a run of games regardless if he's off it for a couple, always looks like scoring. Perkins played most of this season but he's constantly been *****. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wouldn`t say never but on the whole he doesn`t play well, thats because he has to have a defensive side to his game whereas coming on as sub he only has attack on his mind for a 20/30 minute burst.
Got to say, I think I agree with Hemsy on this one. I've lost count of the times he's made an impact as a sub and the calls have come for him to start. When he's been given a chance he's (mostly) disappointed. He was largely anonymous at Leeds for example. Don't get me wrong, I think on balance he probably deserves a few games in the side simply due to the fact that he's the only midfielder providing any sort of goal threat. But I do think it's wrong to assume he's the answer to all our problems. He's a talented but very inconsistent player, which is why he's playing for Barnsley....
Results are largely irrelevant, as all our results have been $hit, regardless of who's started. But he hasn't scored once, when he's started. All his goals have come from the bench. Not that this matters - we've also lost every game he's scored in as well.
I think this has to be the moment where he takes his chance and makes an impact from the start. I'm pretty sure he'll start Wednesday due to his goal and McCourt's embarrassing performance and if he doesn't make an impact now as a starter then he might never get the chance as Wilson is likely to bring his own players in before the end of January.
Never seems as effective when he starts and the stats prove it but none of our usual starters in midfield are consistently effective either so he's definitely got to start. I'd put him in for Paddy, would rather he put a few long range shots over the bar than see Paddy try and beat a second man and immediately lose possession.
Yes, he was far more critical of him than I gave credit for it appears: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/derby_county/9390909.stm
I hope he gets 10 to 15 games as a starter to disprove the theory he deserves it. The rest have had their chances.
