    Boilers packed up!

well partially :) ... i have hot water but no heat at the radiators, the thermo in the hall clicks in when i turn it up so believe that's working and i can hear the pump in the airing cupboard for the water tank.... the internet leads me to believe it may be a diverter valve in the boiler... sound plausible and is it expensive ???

I'm not an expert or even a novice come to that, I know next to nowt, but the one thing I do know about combi boilers having had one for a few years is that the first thing to check is that the pressure in them is OK. If it's not, they stop working. It was the most common problem with ours and it's a problem with me mam's too.

If you know about this and you've checked it and I'm just teaching you to such eggs disregard the following. If not...

There'll probably be a gauge on it somewhere to show you the pressure. It should read about 2 bar, although check your manual to see what it should be on yours. If it currently reads less than what the manual states, then there'll be a little tap to let some water in and build the pressure back up to the required level. Open it up, let it reach that level, close it off.

Apologies if you already know this, but it's always the first thing to check when summat goes wrong. Saves £££s on calling a plumber.

Could be something as simple as a air lock bleed your radiators first.

    I'm a plumbing expert, seriously.

However, in your case I have come to the conclusion that your radiators are haunted.
I suggest you contact the Church. An Exorcist will set you back roughly £92.47.
I'd go for the Catholics as they're miles more mental.

    I hope this helps.

    Plumbed.
    Copper.

    See what you did there?

I've loved many, many dogs in my time.
Mainly round the back of pubs up against dustbins.

Some of the dogs I've woken up with made me wish they were actually real dogs.
You can't throw an adult woman into the canal in a bag full of bricks.

What were we talking about again?
    Ah, that's it .... ghosts.
I'll be honest - I'm dead against ghosts. People forget that traders need access to Dixons. They do say they help people in wheelchairs.

If you look in the airing cupboard are there 2 brass valves or just 1? You could manually move the switch over to allow heat to pass into the heating circuit to get the house a little warm for the time been.

Drop me a pm if you like
