Point scoring on the BBS

I go on a few different message boards and I can honestly say that this one makes me shake my head in disbelief at times. All some people seem to want to do on here is point score against other users. I don't think any of the other boards I read have people deliberately posting things just to get on people's nerves, neither do they start threads just to slag off other users. It really is like being back in primary school.

And what's more, the other message boards are general forums on boxing, music, etc, so they are used by people with a wide variety of tastes and opinions, yet they rarely break out into the kind of childish name calling you see on here. The BBS is a dedicated board for fans of Barnsley FC, i.e. all the users apparently share the same passion, but you wouldn't guess that by reading it.

I may be wide of the mark. The posters may comprise of a bunch of six year olds. But if not, can we all grow up a little, respect each others opinions (although this would be easier if we could keep the opinions grounded, a little more constructive and stop going straight to the extremes) and leave the name calling and point scoring to the kids in the playground? It is embarrassing to come on here sometimes

I don't think enough people on here give their true opinion - too many people just agree with the 'clique' members, newer members are shot down for having an opinion which differs slightly from the theme of other threads.

It's not behaviour which is exclusive to this forum though, it's pretty typical of all the other forums I've used where there seems to be similar number of active members.

 

For me it's not the true opinions which spoil it, but the "wind up" statements made specifically to provoke a response. Can't get my head round why people can't think of better things to do with their lives than provoke arguments on the internet. And then claim that they are different in "real life".

 

I reserve the right to take the piss out of moaning, whinging, defeatist boners....and I fully respect their rights to rip me for my happy clappy, rose tinted support.

I find it sad that grown men result to name calling purely because their opinion is different to someone else's.

I often disagree with certain poster's on here, but I'd never resort to personal abuse, time some people grew up.

 

Totally agree with this, you can hardly voice an opinion without someone having a dig or trying to belittle, if you've been to Tenerife then someone on here's been to elevenerife!

How do I get into this clique? Kinda ironically, the OP is slagging off the board against other boards in the way he is saying that member does against member on this site. JUst don't use the site then, unless you're on some philanthropic mission to save us all. We can see when people are acting cnuty but for me this has some of the best Barnsley people on the net on it and the other Barnsley forums just aren't the same for it
