Still would sooner have last seasons team over this.. we'd have been above Pompey now in my veiw.. but hey-ho..
It's a testament to the resolve of this team that they've recovered so often from the blow of going a goal down, and its refreshing to not be almost certain that we weren't going to win a game after going behind - why Duff couldn't inspire broadly the same group of players to get back into games is beyond me. It's just a shame that we're nowhere near as good at taking the initiative and seeing out games when we do get the first goal.
So, if we averaged the two seasons out, we'd have missed out on the automatics last season on goal difference but this season we wouldn't even be in the play-offs...
Quite an interesting stat but it is largely driven by going behind in a game. Carlisle are 7th in that table but have gone behind a whopping 32 times. What would be a better gauge is the average points gained after going behind. Ours is 1.4 ppg and Portsmouth are 1.6 ppg. Carlisle are 0.4 ppg.
I think we are in more losing positions cos we are conceding more goals don,t know if that’s a good thing.
I think it's partly down to how bad our defence can be as well. We can be playing well and still go behind because of an individual error. We didn't go behind too often last season, and when we did it was because we weren't playing well so were less likely to come back.
At the end of the day the league position is all that matters. We have had a rookie defence this season, but we've showed a lot of character in all but a few games, Saturday being a prime example of the latter. I think we'll comfortably make the playoffs, but have a wafer thin squad to spin games round. 1 in 4 chance then.
