We won great and kept a clean sheet which was nice. I would hope though that the strike and defensive situations get sorted for Preston. We had a good dozen chances in the match off target alone. With a more clinical striker we would have had it wrapped up much sooner. Taking nothing away from the three good saves their keeper made. Shame we threw away the lead at Burnley because we would have been in the play offs now.
Which strike and defensive problems need sorting?? We created a bunch of chances, their keeper made 3 world class saves and one was cleared off the line and we scored one. 2 forwards with 4 each so far, any team in the world would wish to have that. Kept a clean sheet and defended as a whole team in the second half. I hope we play exactly the same at Preston
Defence: Just because we have finally kept a clean sheet doesn't mean problems have suddenly gone. Our defence is not good enough and we looked better today without Reid so draw your own conclusion. Strikers: We had a good dozen chances today off target. With a more clincal and experienced striker i believe many of them would have at least been on target if not in the net.
When did either of our strikers put a good chance off target? Think about it and reply. None of them did. Hayes and Richards were denied by brilliant saves. There was just NOTHING to criticise in that performance.
Who's this striker then, name names?????????????? because Hayes and Richards worked their cocks of today.
Hayes First half. Pretty much an open net and he hit it wide (and straight at their defender who kicked it out). 9 out of 10 for getting in the position in the first place though but once there he should have scored.
So our strikers have to take every chance do they 1 goal in 2 games is a decent target for a striker, just what do you expect?
RE: When did either of our strikers put a good chance off target? Im shocked some people are still going on about our strikers in a bad way. I think Hayes had a chance he should have scored today when the defender cleared it off line, but you just have to look at the amount of goals we score to se how good we are going forward. Even if they miss a lot of chances (which they didnt today) I don't care how many they miss if they keep scoring at this rate. 2 great young forwards at Barnsley both scoring and playing well. What more can they do to prove to some people that they are good?
RE: Hayes It was probably just going wide but it was all his own work. Both the frontmen were outstanding today - in fact, every one of the players, including Healy and Wright, were excellent.
Hayes had a header on target, and battled and won some headers. That must have stunned most of this message board.

RE: When did either of our strikers put a good chance off target? Its called spliting hairs, some folk never happy i'm afraid(N)
RE: When did either of our strikers put a good chance off target? agree fantastic and richards did what i aint seen him do yet knock there centre halfs about.
RE: Hayes Hayes and richards had their best game as a partnership today. All too often one will play well and the other wont or they'll play with one running around the middle of the park somewhere and one in the box or they stand so far apart that they need mobiles to communicate but today they both seemed to be on fire and were both getting into good positions.
Tommy Wright is coming good too in my opinion

RE: So our strikers have to take every chance do they I was just pointing out a miss, which was the question asked.
RE: When did either of our strikers put a good chance off target? both strikers are playing at a level you would never have expected after last season,i must admit i have been critical of them but today they were both superb, the wolves goalkeeper stopped two blinding headers from them.
I can't get my breath....you'll see preier league teams that don't play as well as we did in the first half, some people are never satisfied.
Im baffled as to why anyone could come home from a match like that and think anything negative. That performance was close to perfect, great one touch football at times, attacking style again and defended as a team when we needed to. Wolves are a good side, look at their defensive record and league position.
Stunned..indeed I was stunned when Hayes missed the easist chance of the game dragging it likely wide when even the defender failed to net for him.
Still he had a decent game.
Get a balanced opinion FFS.

RE: Stunned..indeed I never once claimed he was perfect. He missed the easiest chance, after playing a one-two of his own making and skinning the "experienced centre half" that we're so desperate for.
I know you enjoy being negative, but I'm trying to point out that we were outstanding today, from Colgan right through to Hayes. Try enjoying it - its a nice feeling.
