i am guessing you didn't see the police outside after the game then? grabbing Barnsley fans by the necks and pinning them against the fencing all because they were singing red army?

saying that though they seemed ok other than that, the police at deedar land was worse when we got off the train

All apart from some young obnoxious arrogant ****** who thought he was clever shoving fans around for being stood 2'' in the gangway. An absolute cap end!

We had an issue with one steward who didn't want me taking a photo of my daughter with pitch in background (after game).

All in all, thought the stewards and police where very good, but you always drop on one don't yer?

I thought they were poor man handling fans and letting huge waiting queues build up as they felt the need to frisk 6k people. So many little kids in the crowd who saw nothing of the game due to stewards never even attempting to make fans sit down. The catering there made Lindleys look like the Ritz too. Trying to charge 3 quid for drinks priced on the board as 2.20, getting orders wrong and stopping selling warm drinks even though behind the counter dozens were waiting to be bought.

When we got there it looked like a bomb had gone off with all the police and I feared the worst. Mostly though they appeared ok. Just a shame there's always one or two coppers and one or two stewards who want to get so heavy handed and provocative it turns a nothing incident into a big one.

I mixed with the City fans, drank in their pub. Not a problem.

have to say, you've got me there. i've never seen a 'no away fans' policy in a chippy. maybe football fans will start spending all their time in chippies, instead of pubs. great point, well made

It's how you act though. If you march up to a pub singing songs, or in a huge group, they'll turn you away. If you keep your head down and just walk in, even say you're City if need be, you'll be fine. Usually best to drink away from the ground anyway, more difficult to ban people from city centre pubs that are more generally used.

we spent about 4 hours in city pubs, down the northern quarter. surrounded by city fans. had a good crack, no hassle whatsoever. and there were some scary looking chaps among 'em. then i went in the waldorf. within 30 seconds, some barnsley lovely person staring me down asking me 'are you citeh'

I thought the searching and frisking was a bit ott but apart from that where I was they were great Asked the steward early on if they let folk stand and he said he wasn't going to stop 6000 fans if they wanted to stand up! but the reason for the question was we take an 80 odd year old with us and he can't stand up for that length of time neither can he get up out of his seat quickly so in sell out games misses everything. Steward moved him to the disabled seats at the back. Sad to say we have some real idiots in our fan base and stewards and police sorted out a couple who were worse for wear and kept an eye on things without being heavy handed.

Them and MK dons stewards were great but generally never had much of a problem anywhere (birmingham city and port vale excepted!)

I asked one if there was usually such a high presence

He said it was because there aren't as many away fans on normal match days.

Both the police and stewards seemed okay to me.
