Sounded very close in the 2nd half. Was it looking for any shred of evidence that Max Watters either turned up or played at Oakwell this afternoon?
I've been one of a reducing number of people believing that Max Watters has ability and will come good but after today for the first time I'm going to describe his performance as "palpably inefficient". The thing that frustrates me most is his apparent unwillingness to work hard - that's the bare minimum and unfortunately he consistently fails to reach acceptable levels. He wasn't on his own in the first half today mind.
That unwillingness to work hard is quite frankly a big reason we didn't get promoted last season. And he was rewarded for it with a long contract.
I'm very fortunate to ask my dad who is consistently 99% correct on players what he thinks of Watters..... (he was the x scout now in his 90s)...he told me last year he was a lower leagues player and thought it good he was only here on loan. Unfortunately we signed him and we have seen no improvement in his overall standard of play. Yesterday i looked at him in depth and although we were shocking first half...I noticed what dad is talking about ....his movement and game intelligence is ...well nil! He seems incapable of making any runs to make space for others, by running diagonal, or anything when our midfielders have the ball. He is average at best in the air too so we can't find him with the long ball. I really want him to be good and come good but I just think he's not at this level and not what we require upfront.
