Shepherd has stated that there was no cloak and dagger - no conspiracy to hold back the news of McIndoe's departure, and that it really did happen 'at the last minute' - however we all know that one of the first transfers to be announced was the signing of an (apparently or conveniently) replacement winger.
After what has happened - do you trust your chairman? In the style of a Young Nudger post, yes or no. Have the last few days effected your view of Shepherd at all?

Still a massive grey area for me mate... So none of those options fits my bill. Ask me again at Christmas / New Year 'cos I think either Ritchie or Shepherd will be vindicated over the coming months. If it happens to be Shepherd who is proved right then I'd have to put my hands up to placing my trust and sympathies with the wrong bloke. That said, I hope it is Shepherd who is vindicated otherwise things will be looking very bleak in times to come... We'll never know the truth but trust him or not I think he's a bit of an unprofessional ass...
Eh? You've been on the booze as well haven't you? How does trusting him or not have anything to do with the future?
Everything, if you read the post correctly... My sympathies and trust lie with Ritchie and I'm always a bit suspicious of businessmen types at the best of times, especially football chairmen - so I'd err towards the distrust option - that's my gut reaction. However, over the next few months we will see (at least more clearly than now) whether or not the Ritchie sacking was genuine as opposed to knee-jerk populism by Shepherd and whether these new signings are part of a plan to support the caretaker manager (either with a view to giving him the job permanently or stopping the rot until a replacement is found) or just an appeasement of the supporters with regards to the McIndoe sale. Basically, time will tell and, as I support BFC and not individuals within the organisation and I'm more interested in drawing a line under recent events and getting behind the team, I'm prepared to wait and see what happens before passing judgement...
RE: Everything, if you read the post correctly... OK. Accept what you say. Just because someone manages to be succesful doesn't get me to trust them though. Once deceived it takes a lot of trust building to get me persuaded to trust again (that is my motto for life by the way!!)
After this week I think Shep treats Barnsley fans as plebs Flinders and Togwell deal same day but we are told they are not related??? McIndoe 7 oclock announcement, why ??? McIndoe clause in his contract, why ??? Kyle Reid signed during the morning and McIndoe sold late afternoon, we are told not related, and both are left wingers ??? I think Shep is good at what he does i.e. getting the business side of things sorted out But I still have doulbts about him as a person that knows how football works I still think we need a director of football at the club Davey would do for me as manager if we had someone in the background that knew how football works. He may be a good coach but I dont think Davey is experienced enough in other aspects of the game
RE: After this week I think Shep treats Barnsley fans as plebs What does a director of football actually do? From what i've seen from the clubs that have them it can be quite a divisive role.
Agreed. It's the "get him out of the way before he ruins this club, but he's too expensive to sack" role.
Shep has come out and explained things generally hours after they have happened. I think he deserves credit for doing so. A lot of chairmen wouldn't bother. We all know really that he has the clubs interests at heart and that he is doing the business financially. I suspect a lot is down to Cryne, who although he doesn't seem to have pumped a vast amount of money in, is doing enough to keep us stable. I think some people on this site are overly suspicious of Shep, he can't reasonably be expected to explain things on the website before they are completed can he? Although I think that finding out about Ryan Kidd from his replacement announcement on the Bury website was a bit crappy. But then maybe the Barnsley website man had popped out for half an hour to have his car serviced, we just don't know these things do we? Of course Reid was brought in to cover the possiblity of McIndoe going, but it doesn't mean it was written on until late in the day. Maybe Mc was talking to two or three clubs because of his clause and it was obvious to Shep that he needed to cover the possibility of him going? I know I will get a lot of stick for this point of view, but I guess the 50/50 split of the voting so far shows that a lot of rational fans actually agree with the bulk of it? (chinny) One question though, didn't we read recently that rent is due to start being paid soon? Who to? Didn't we get the land back off Doyle?(copper)
The Thing Is...... he is a supporter just like us. So yes he does want the best for the club. I believe him to be honest and sincere. His job is to keep us out of debt. Some things he does are going to be unpopular. But the guy knows EVERYTHING about the club. But we don't see the things he does.
Regarding the rent The ground was bought back jointly by the Council and Patrick Cryne, it is seperate from the football club therefore rent will be payable to the owners.
