go on, I'll take the bait

How many people on here were brought up in the 60/70's in the barnsley area and like me didn't have any coloured people living in their area and didn't meet one until they went to work??

How difficult was it to have a balanced opinion when you didn't know any coloured people to discuss their point of view and you were getting institutionalised racism on the tv?? (ie bernard manning, love thy neighbour, it aint half hot mum, etc etc)

ok, so moving on 30 years, (younger people might laugh at this), but how many of the people brought up in that era now find themselves confused because they don't really know how to be unracist?

you talk a lot of sense here.

    He does.

Given that it would be ludicrous to claim that there are no differences between races and nationalities it follows that it's impossible not to make judgements that are technically racist, be they positive or negative.

Anyone who voted in the best race/nationality poll made a racist judgement. Many of them will claim that they took what they saw to be a light-hearted poll with a pinch of salt but they also made a judgement when they did that, they decided when it's ok to joke - a privelage sometimes denied on this board.

Whatever we are we should be real. This board is infested with fakes but it's a piece of cake to leg em up.

This board is infested with fakes

And your polls and "trying to leg people up" shows you to be one

    Eh?

You've started the straw-clutching before the argument there ES. Did I touch a nerve?

Not straw clutching - just an observation.

You seem intent to call people "fakes" without knowing a great deal about them, "it's impossible to make a non racist judgement", so therefore striving not to be racist would therefore be a pointless thing to do, we might as well be racist and proud of it. Seems that you see people who take a more liberal view of the world than yourself as being fakes (i.e. They can't possibly really believe that, they are just saying that to try to look good)

Show me someone who isn't bigotted or who pre-judges another and I'll show you a saint or a liar.

Fair point, but that doesn't mean it's excusable not to try

to change or that it is acceptable to others.

You haven't had your coffee yet have you mate?

If it looks like **** and smells like **** then chances are it's ****. There are people on here who've repeatedly proved themselves to be fakes. And once again you're trying to put words in my mouth It's not about not trying to do the right thing, it's about being honest and not living in an imaginary world. Don't try to force an extreme view out of that argument just for the sake of it.

You have no idea what my view of the world is because you, like so many on here, kick off before actually making any effort to understand what I'm actually saying. The pity of it is I think you, unlike so many of the others, have the necessary upstairs to get your head round it if you tried.

And as far as them having a "liberal" view goes. You are joking aren't you? Tell me you're having a laugh.

I normally regard you as having a bit more upstairs than the general body of "liberal" fascists on this board. It's your contrary nature that causes you to charge headlong into hopeless arguments and your blind belief that pedantry is a valid conversational tool that makes deploy such lame tactics, that's just your way and the board wouldn't be the same without you so let's leave the dumb nonsense to such as SuperTyke and Bungle eh mate?

    No it doesn't.

Thanks for pointing that out to those amongst us who've had a bus run over our head this morning.

Given Rothred's comments on the deep rooted racism

that has been around and is difficult to end, does that not make it more important to avoid treating the subject in a light-hearted manner as this could only re-inforce such ingrained views?

No-ones trying to deny privileges, just that with every right goes a responsibility.

Is that why you can't spell very well this morning?

RE: Given Rothred's comments on the deep rooted racism

I made no judgement as to whether the subject should be treated in a light-hearted manner or not. I merely pointed out that some on this board do so whilst denying others that privelege. Fakes.

    See?

I wasn't actually referring to me.

Don't make me dumb it down.

Do you want to have a third attempt at spelling

    privilege correctly?

    Spell it out you mean?

    There's a good chap.

Back out at the first slap and resort to flitting around picking up on spellings. You've finally found your level.

    I wasn't actually making a comment at you, I asked a question.

    Not everything is about you.

Yeah right, cos you always just stick to the facts and

don't ever resort to insults and jibes do you? Get a grip man.
