So lets put it to the test with a poll! Should Van Homeot be worthy of a starting shirt or not?!

Peter Sand! What a player! Did he actually have a touch on his debut? I seem to remember he was outshone by a certain Chris Lumsden on the night.

I think people are being harsh here.

Currently he is being played out of position and he's getting all this stick from some quarters. I know he's not the greatest defender we've ever had and never will be, and I also know that some people don't even rate him when he's played in his proper position. But people have only REALLY started to get on his back after his appearances at left back. I personally think that when he has played right back he's had some very good games for us - some poor games too to be fair, but I just think this witch-hunt is going a bit too far.

How anyone can rate Kozluk any better than Van Homeot is beyond me and Hassell is no better at left back.

Nicky Eaden got PLENTY of stick

Maybe someone could explain to me why that was.

On this basis, I'm tempted to think the majority of people who criticise VH haven't a clue what they are talking about.

The options on the poll are a bit extreme

For what its worth I think Kozluk is the best left back of the 3
As a defensive right back Hassell is the best
As an attacking right back then its Van Homoet

All have merits and are worthy of a start

oh and none of them are really a left back

That is the main point. He is getting slated for being poor out of position. VHom has done ok at RB, has had some very good games. And he has been involved in consecutive clean sheets at LB so hasn't done anything too bad. His distribution has been poor but he has defended ok on the whole. We desperately need a LB in the summer (I would be getting a loan but I don't think we will).
