I sit in the East Lower and I know it could be more vocal, but the Ponty end is our Kop and traditionally this is where all football club's "singing' element tend to sit. We must be the the quietest fans in the country.
They Expect Every Decision Off The Ref As Well Some of the decisions they expect us to get are laughable.
I sit mid way in the Ponty and all the singing normally starts at the right side facing the away stand, there is a lot of the "older end sit" below row X where i am and believe me Brazil would not get them on their feet!!. I also think as of late , as demonstrated against Norwich, the fans know that due to our frailties in midfield that the oppisition is always going to score.
RE: They Expect Every Decision Off The Ref As Well So do I. I just wondered why there is hardly any singing these days. Who knows it might just lift the players.
RE: As a Ponty Ender I think I can speak for us all speaking truth.. if you're all so bothered, come sit with us and start the singing off.
RE: As a Ponty Ender I think I can speak for us all When I go, 2/3 games, me and mates always start songs off and everyone just looks at you and smiles. It's a disgrace, and I just cannot believe our home record is so good with such awful support. We really now just sing when we are winning which is cringing. I for one wouldn't sign for a club like us
And here's me thinking, the reason why people sit in Kops is be a part of a lively atmosphere, and contribute towards it. Afterall, more often than not ,sitting behind the goals, is not the best way to view football.
Because we can't stand up (I recall the tannoy messages saying that your season ticket will be confiscated if you do so) and people look at you as though you've got two heads if you sing. It's not just us, it's every other club as well.
we should do something like, make half of a certain stand designated for standing and singing. I for one would stand there
I blame designated seats and flat roofs The problem is, singing at a football match requires a few loud pioneers. A strong, resounding chant or song will get people joining in whereas a few quiet, lone voices will not. In the days of standing, a core of singers would gravitate together near the back. When someone started a chant, the core joined in en masse, the sound reverbarated in the roofspace and made a substantial noise that people joined in with. This mechanism has been destroyed by stand design and allocated seating and resultantly, the big match atmosphere has been extinguished.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but The atmosphere for the 19 home games in the premiership was red hot. Flat roofs and allocated seating did nothing to extinguish it.
never understood why people say that Surely all the 'core' singers that used to gather can sit near each other?
our fans are poor it is true. I sit in the ponty and would love to be singing all the way through but no one joins in. It helpsi f the team are playing well but if you're winning at home and not lost for 13 home games in a row and the opposition go 2-1 up then the players would be right to expect us to get behind them instead of moaning and waiting for them to make it happen. There!
How? You get an allocated seat and sit in it. Unless you mean that there should be some sort of "singers' club", whose members are in contact with eachother outside of match days and who could make block bookings on season tickets in the middle of the stand near the back. Or perhaps the club could evict a few ST holders from that area and allocate it as a designated singing zone, whereby your ticket is revoked if you're not vocal enough...it's just not going to happen is it?
There was noises made this season about bringing in standing areas like they have in Germany. Maybe the V section that does beggar all between the Ponty and West stand could safely and cheaply be made into a standing area if ever it got the go ahead.
