Yes geordie was a canny lad as they say,a good mate,
never a dull moment with geordie(alas it provided his Misfortune) this was again Sunday morning, and after the hostiities, the lads made a kind of LIDO,we royal engineers had all the right gear to do it....but it was a few miles away from camp,.and now we were back to bull, this day geordie came again to me lazing on myPIT,Yorky, come to the Lido with us we need one for permision to have a truck...i wont go thro again what i told him to do.....Oh come yorky, you wont drown (MISTAKE,EH<GEORDIE) wel off they go...but when they came back..No geordie.....no he did not drownn, worse than that.as i said he was a joker...and when the lads saw his legs stuck in the air and his body under the water,,they thought another geordie Joke....but no,what happened as i said it was home made in a Hurry,,,,,,,Geordie thought he could show off and dive in from a great heaight,he did,and hit the bottom ...and Broke his neck, he was taken from there by helicopter (MASH TYPE) we learned he would be paralysed for the rest of his life.....Sad but very true...........

All my conkers came from there.

The trees at the edge of Rockley Woods. Nice to see they're still there.

Just down from the motorway bridge mate. Have vivid memories of me and my Dad standing in the middle of the road, avoiding traffic (mainly tractors!) while launching sticks.

And we used to do it in October. I'm sure people start conkering in August nowadays.
