Just be reading about the little boy from Solihull ( Arther) who was tortured and murdered by his parents, absolutely heartbreaking and I now wish I hadn't read it, I hope they get prison justice everyday for the rest of their sad pathetic lives. RiP
Utterly horrific. I have been prosecuting a child murder this week. A 2 year old girl beaten to death by mum’s boyfriend. After 25 years at the Criminal Bar I have seen some truly shocking things but these are the cases that still keep me awake at night. And always will.
Fair play to you, I know you have to remain calm and composed in your job, I would just want to fling myself at them on sentencing day. 2 year old, it makes sick to the pit of my stomach, btw BarTyke will our outdated anti victim pro perpetrator sentencing guidelines be updated anytime soon ( i used to sit in the Dock when I worked on the prison vans and I was mortified at some of the sentences for the most heinous of crimes
Getting the book thrown at them is too good for the evil ********, bottom of the Thames with a pair of concrete boots would be more appropriate
Must be a harrowing ordeal for the defence also imo having to put a defence for these vile fiends . Hopefully the sentence will reflect the crime but I’ll not hold my breath on that one, just hope the parole board are reformed before these lovely people are considered .
I agree. However, it won't take away that sense of sadness at the waste of a young life in the pit of your stomach though.
They are constantly updating the guidelines but there remain some offences which really need much stiffer starting points. When I started there were no guidelines beyond case law and it very much depended on which judge you got before - be it a softy or a hang ‘em high assassin! The best judges are those who know who to hammer and those who deserve a second chance. As a poacher turned gamekeeper now prosecuting solely homicides/fatalities and OCGs I have certainly hardened my views over the years. One area that really needs looking at is death by dangerous driving. Max 14yrs, early release can mean offenders doing 2 or 3 years actual time. I have a case coming up with 3 deaths arising from a motorway smash caused by a driver using their telephone and ploughing into standing traffic at 60mph in an HGV. Also ‘one punch manslaughter’. I do so many of these. Typically town centre in drink bravado attacks on strangers, often attracting just 3-5 years on the guidelines, out after doing half with the grieving family’s suffering totally compounded.
Saw this on the news last night.....that video of the little lad barely able to walk and crying as he was in so much pain.....ffs. I was in bits. I'm no advocate of the death penalty, but cases like this really do test me. Those evil lovely personts should never see daylight again. Hopefully natural justice will take its course inside...
Truly shocking. I haven't read the full story and don't want to. How on earth someone can inflict such torture and misery on a helpless young child is beyond me. They're pure evil.......
Let’s hope they both suffer 24/7 while inside and when i say suffer i mean tortured basically by fellow inmates.
I don't normally get affected by the news but anything to do with child neglect has me in bits. I'm a left-leaning liberal but I'd happily put these two fookers on top of a bonfire at a moments notice.
I couldn't do it. Dreading getting called for jury service for a case like this, goodness knows what it's like to hear events like these day in day out.
These are the types of cases where the perps should be used as human test subjects. Give them diseases and try and find cures for them. Allow cosmetic firms to inject their eyes with stuff to see the reaction. Least they`ll be giving something back to society rather than getting 3 squares a day and putting their feet up. If they die, meh!
