Anyone who lives in Barnet or who cares about clubs such as Barnet should be aware of Barnet council's attitude and how they are obstructing at every opportunity any ground improvements at Underhill. They seem happy to let the club decay and disappear.

Currently the home terrace is closed and will remain so for probably the rest of the season all for the sake of some minor work that the council insist needs planning permission. The earliest that the planning application
can be considered is March 24th and the council has been quoted as saying they will get a court injunction against the club if so much as a spade goes into the ground to start the work without permission.

The following from the club web site outlines the full story for those interested.

But if some large construction company wants to build on a green belt flood plain - no problem. The brown envelopes have been received and everything is hunky dory with planning.

One of the things that gets me.....

is that they are trying to improve safety and disabled access and being knocked back. Even tried to do the work at the same time as some other work was going on !!!

Good to see the good citzens of Barnet have a responsble town council

Sod common sense, safety and the practicality and cost saving.

there are procedures that must be followed at their convenience - so what if it means half a major sports facility is closed for half a season and ultimately costs more things must be done by the book that they wrote.

    grrrrr!
