Topic done to death and im still 100% behind flicker, couldnt infact support him anymore, but trying to pull the wool over our eyes is a sad mark on his copybook.

Why didnt he just say lads the wage steel was on could have been much better spent elsewhere in the squad and due to this ive made the decision to let him go.

No we get he was offered a piss poor one year deal due to his age. Age?? Has luke steel been taking the piss with everyone and hes actually 35 or something?

What does that bs excuse achieve except to make flicker look very daft? This could have been easily avoided ffs.

Couldn't agree more, if Flitcroft doesn't want Steele, for whatever reason, fair enough but to give a reason like that just makes him look childish.

I'd have liked him to say "I don't rate Hassell or Steele, and feel I could find better alternatives for less money, so I've released them".

Unfortunately, he's offered them both ridiculous deals and given a piss poor excuse for doing so (with Steele).

We don't need an explanation for Hassell's contract offer, because you only have to go back to Flicker's one 'pressure moment' after the two defeats, where when Hassell's name was brought up in an interview he exploded like a child.

And that's just the 'public' stuff that everyone on here knows about..

So yes. He should have manned up and released them both. It would have angered some of us. But he'd have got more respect for being honest, than he's getting now.

But remember, if Steele goes and Alnwick (or whoever) puts in great displays he'll have made the right decision and everybody will bow down. Again.

As for Bobby, I expect him to sign the contract and stay because he's a legendary bloke, as well as a legendary player. But I doubt Flicker will pick him often if at all.

    You Reds etc.

The explanation offered in the chron today, doesn't stack up for me. Behind him 100%, but I personally think he's called this wrong and could have handled it much better

True and people will always make decisions not everyone agrees with. However even if mr headbutt plays well ill still remember the absolute guff he tried to fob us off with, which is a shame. Hope he learns as he is an inexperienced gaffer.

Conversely, I think it puts undue pressure on Alnwick now. Any error will be greeted with 'should have never let steeley go'. We'll see

It's mental, any mug can see that he is making decisions that are clearly not in the club's or his own interest. The bandwagon has just gone over a massive bump as far as I'm concerned. Flitcroft is starting to believe his own hype, instead of standing behind the players who played out of their skins for him.

I love Flicker to death right now, but massively disagree with his stance and approach to Luke Steele.

Luke was flickers biggest advocate to get the job. He was given the armband and made some big big stops. Personally, think something has happened which isn't being discussed. Just doesn't make sense.

Massively gone down in my estimations. Made himself look like a childish fool by lying to us about the reason and to those who believe the reason he has made himself look like a complete idiot because 28 is practically youth team age for a keeper.

Also made himself look like a hypocrite.

    It's right though.
For those that do not believe him he has made himself look childish by giving a stupid excuse as a reason.
For those that do believe him he has made himself look foolish because 28 is not too old for a keeper.
And for everyone he has made himself look a bit hypocritical by offering a 2 year deal to Tom Kennedy who is just 9 months younger than Luke Steele yet plays in a position where fitness and speed is vital.
