Anyone live nearby/been there? The one I'm on about is on the south coast basically in Portsmouth. There could be other Portchesters in the country so if there is feel free to let me know. I know it's a strange question but my grandma has been told there's some deeds for her for a house there. But our family has no links to the place. Which also brings me onto the question. Are house prices there high?
Already planning on spending the inheritence Joe??? lol..... You sound more like your sister everyday haha.....
Nahh just thinking about my nanan obviously haha. I don't think this house is going to be hers anyway, I think they've made a mistake.
just looked the cheapest houe down their I could find was £169,950 for a 2 bedroom Terrace.... I know how concerned you are for your nanan, so that will be good news for her.... Are you sure the people who have contacted her arent Nigerian.... and want her to send tham an administration fee???
Haha All they have asked for are the details of her solicitor. So I don't understand, if it's a piss take what they could get from her from just her solicitor's details. It's all really strange. I suggested that it was supposed to be another person of the same but they've got the addresses mixed up or something.
Tell her not to count her chickens Till they are hatched. My Dad was advised by the Tax Inspector he needed to pay tax on an inheritance in a bank in Dartford in Kent. It was estimated at 150 thousand pound. We were all over the moon thinking some unknown relative had left him this windfall in their will. At that time almost 25 years ago it was a lot of money and Dad was retired on his NCB pension. It turned out Barclays Bank had a mistaken identity problem when they had advised the Tax man same name different person. Bank appologised profusely just before plans were put in place for a new Cortina and a Bungalow.
Have friends who live there .... Well, they have a pad at Port Solent, which is across the estuary. It is famous for Portchester Castle, the site of which dates back to Roman times. It has the feel of a well-heeled village in which many of the officer class from the Royal Navy used to live. Many former first Sea Lords are buried in the church within the Castle walls. For all these reasons, its development has been very carefully managed and it is regarded locally as a 'bijou' place to live, with a lot of property being snapped up as second, or retirement homes. I haven't seen any poor parts of it and have driven through several times. Good access from there also both to Portsmouth and to the M27. Should be worth a good deal above average market price for any property type, were it not for the poor current market conditions.
