Shocking game and that shot that hit the post cost me £10 in Betway winnings - I put £5 on France to win. Didn't realise they take the 90 minute score as a result so don't pay out, whatever happens after ET and pens

I was lucky enough to be in Greece for both the semi and final in 2004. Two of the best, most drunken nights of my life.

Gotta hand it to them. Went through a seven match tournament unbeaten. Had to do it the hard way by finishing so low down in their group. Did better as a smaller nation than bigger ones like ourselves, Germany and Italy. Won tonight despite a cynical challenge taking out the best player in the world early doors to prove the team have more about them than just Ronaldo.

I think Portugal deserve alot of credit. Year of the underdogs continues :)

best player in the world? Give over, Suarez has outshone him this season, not just Messi.

Ronaldo is the greatest player in the history of the game.

a foul where they banged knees. Unlucky but not a cynical leg breaker

Ironic that Ronaldo totally disrespected Iceland for negative tactics, yet Portugal win the tournament by doing pretty much the same.

They also played better, or should I say looked more likely to win, after Ronaldo was injured.

So bored by the final I watched a Cameron Diaz 'rom com' instead of extra time.

He's certainly up there with Messi but I think Pele and Maradona are above them both.
