It's better to sign good players like him, Anderson, Colace, Muller etc and attract interest from good sides and get good transfer fees, than it is to sign a load of ***** that no-one's interested in.

I can't believe we'd spend £1.2m on Hume, only to sell JCR and the others above on the cheap.

£2m plus or else we have sold on the cheap though.

    I agree with this ....

Davey has had a fair old turn-over of players since starting as manager. Worth remembering that it seemed to be Ritchie's loyalty to the promotion squad and his unwillingness to bring in new faces which cost him his job.

You certainly cannot accuse Davey of not having contacts and bringing players in and from some pretty exotic places as well. If I read this right, we have secured some key players on long-term contracts - I know that this includes Campbell-Ryce, who is now being touted to leave, but at least we won't be held to ransom against the fact he might have gone for free in the summer - so, good business by the club, If he stays - great. If he goes, he does so at a much higher fee than he would have commanded had he been allowed to drift out of contract.

I think that I foresee another of Davey's big shuffles coming - maybe it will start before the end of January, or maybe in the summer. I can imagine a good number of players coming in, a few from exotic places. The team is stronger than it was and this represents the next stage of strengthening. All this is healthy - my only concern is what happens if players leave before the end of January and we have not been able to recruit the likes of Nino. We don't want to weaken the side in the short term and risk slipping down. I have enough confidence in Davey and the board as wheeler-dealers to believe that they won't allow that to happen.

Watch the next six months - it could be an exciting time to be a Reds fan.
