Id personally be looking at Adam Davies. Not playing at Sheffield United. Knows club and experienced. I wouldnt mind seeing him back with Smith/Flavell as backup

I'd have absolutely no issue with Flavell at 1, but it might be better for his development at 2. I personally think he's surpassed Jackson though.

Ideal situation for me would be Smith out on Loan Flavell as no.2 and an experienced keeper in on a two year deal to be no.1

I’d have Adam Davies back in a heartbeat. Just the kind of experienced keeper we need imho.
Edit - contracted to Blades until June 2026 so no chance.

He seems more content to pick up a salary rather than actually play football.

Pity, I bet since he left us in 2019 for Stoke he's not played a full seasons equivalent of games.

I had to check and you're not far out. 42 League games and only 9 in the last 3 seasons. I wouldn't want any incoming goalkeeper being that inactive.

    19/20 4 (Championship)
    20/21 17 (Championship)
    21/22 12 (Championship)
    22/23 7 (Championship)
    23/24 0 (Premier League)
    24/25 2 (Championship)

Such a waste. He was the same prior to signing for us too wasn't he, though obviously he was still in his goalkeeping infancy? Don't think he's played much anywhere apart from us.

Modern day footballers for you. Not about creating playing memories, just building the bank balance. Sad really…..

Same with Devante, he's not getting much game time now at West Brom. But he'll be delighted with his bigger Championship wages.

I absolutely get players chasing the money when it's substantially more than they get from their present club.
Apparently Davies is on around £25k pw. at utd. (£1.3m pa.) Trebled his Stoke wage. And I'd guess 6 times what he was on at tarn. Not a difficult choice really.
Days when top paid players dropped down the leagues, to still earn a living, are well and truly over.

Top Players like Alan Clarke were on around £16k - £20k pa in late seventies. £16k pa Equivalent of around £100k pa today. (I once read Emlyn Hughes say his top earnings were £500 pw at wolves. )

Bannan gets paid circa that per month. (£100k) World is mad.

We can all forget anyone who wants a half-decent wage I'm afraid. We shop at Lidl and Aldi remember!

If I was a multi millionaire. I'd still shop at Aldi for most basics. Would pop in to M&S for some products eg love their chipsticks . (Yellow label mind rest on it ) :).

If it's an experienced keeper we want to bring on the young uns then Davies might do. Good keepers i would look at would be Josh Griffiths at WBA (I know that he has just replaced Wildsmith in their goal, but he was magic in two games against us this season and looks the best prospect, as long as West Brom don't decide they want to keep him, which they now might, in spite of his blooper at Bristol City. Whitworth at Exeter is a loanee who has done well. Simpkin on loan at Walsall is another good young one. He is a Stoke player, but has done wonders at Walsall, although losing his place to Hornby in recent weeks. We do need another Liam Roberts, for sure. He was outstanding in the first part of last season and there must be others like him knocking around the benches of a championship club. Addai at Stockport was once with us, but is doing well now that Hinchliffe is injured. Any others??

Rather have a keeper that wants to play week in week out and isn't content bench warming.

Well im fairly certain if he joined us, it'd be to play regularly. He'd be on nowhere near as much money. Majority of the keepers we will be looking at will be 'bench warmers'. You have no idea if he's content or not.

The way Flavell can turn with the ball we should have him in midfield.

If he wasn't content on bench warming, he wouldn't keep playing second fiddle at clubs. I'm sure he could leave them to be first choice somewhere and still be on just as much as now.

Not so sure thats right. It is without a doubt the hardest position to get established. nay on impossible to get the wages he is on at lane I would Imagine. I reckon this last contract will not be matched anywhere near. Reduced terms at utd his best option.
Only way I think he could play regular football now. He would to have to get paid up and take a massive cut elsewhere. If utd get promoted that could well happen. Cos I reckon they'll be on the lookout for another goalie bet it 1st or 2nd choice.
32yrs of age and only played 9 league games in the last 4 seasons whilst at utd. Would not enthuse most if any clubs. Able to pay those wages.
