In the Chronicle, it says we tried to organise a home friendly for Saturday 13th July but the police said no as it's the Mayors Parade in the town centre on that day so the club trying to organise one for Friday 12th July against one of the foreign teams in England on their pre-season tours. They'll need to get their skates on, less than 2 weeks to go till that date!

But if not, we'll only have two friendlies although perhaps they'll have a few in Spain and behind closed doors games. Last pre-season had a lot busier schedule - St Mirren, Alfreton Town, Rotherham Utd, Stocksbridge PS, West Brom, Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra (plus Bradford which was eventually cancelled) but perhaps that shows the difference between Hill and Flitcroft in their approach to pre-season?

It does worry me that we don't seem to be having many friendlies, there's nothing like the real thing but surely they go some way to helping players reignite their match sharpness and competitiveness.

Could possibly be that there aren`t as many new players to bed in this year hence less friendlies.
