For them not registered FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE NEEDED IN OUR MARKETING APPROACH Posted on: Fri 02 May 2008 IN an interview to be published in Barnsley Football Monthly, Patrick Cryne has called for a fundamental change in the marketing and sales approach at Barnsley Football Club. We need to carry the message to all our communities that Barnsley Football Club is a key part of our town's pride. We want families to come to Oakwell and share the fun and frustration of being fans. That won't happen by using our mailing lists and Website alone. We need to take the message into schools, pubs and public buildings. We need to put the message in newspapers and through letter boxes on our patch. In the run up to the FA Cup Semi Final, there were hawkers' pitches all over the town selling Barnsley Football Club paraphernalia, while we were in our Oakwell bunker moaning at their cheek. That cheek is called entrepreneurship and we need some fast.
bloody hell thats twice now I am impresed with things coming out of Oakwell...my head is spinning thats absolutely spot on...NOW WE ARE COOKING ON GAS...and I am very excited by this ....the season tickets was the first great step..and now this...we are moving AT LAST
Keep your fingers crossed, perhaps PC is going to bring some of his business skills to bear and shake up a few feathers. We can but hope
Well it shows that Pat is listening to the fans. Perhaps its time we started recruiting staff from the fan base, people who really care for the Club.
This bit says it all "In the run up to the FA Cup Semi Final, there were hawkers' pitches all over the town selling Barnsley Football Club paraphernalia, while we were in our Oakwell bunker moaning at their cheek. That cheek is called entrepreneurship and we need some fast." BFC made a decision 15+ years ago to not let anyone else sell their merchandise. Things have moved on rapidly in that time, and it is easy for "hawkers" as he calls them to shift stuff quickly at little risk. Maybe time for a rethink. BFC in town didn't work - why not arrange a franchise with local shops - it gets the BFC brand into the community.
Fantastic, what a positive end to the season. Well done to all involved. The future's bright, the future's red.
RE: the future is bright It's about time that someone said such a thing with regards Barnsley FC. (Y) (respect) (clap) (clap) (clap)
