let's imagine you work from 9 till 5, week in week out.

then suddenly you are told "AS FROM NEXT WEEK YOU WILL WORK 11 TILL 7". if you don't like it then leave.

now that's one of the reasons why we posties are out on strike.

does anybody think we like losing money ? cos it ain't fun taking home £43 today.

if we don't fight for ourselves, who will ?

    But you DON'T work 9 to 5.

You work 9 to 1 and get paid 9 to 5.

That's the crux of the thing to me.

no we worked 5am till 1, some now work from 6 till 2 or 7 till 3.

that seems the CRUX of the thing to me.

    Changing hours

Hardly being asked to donate a kidney.

Sorry if sound harsh but I think the strike is nonsense. Delivery vans won't be able to arrive before 6am due to new speed restrictions, that's been known for weeks so I don't see why the change in hours is such a big surprise.

If the posties had been told they were all going to be laid off then I could maybe support a strike but it seems to me they've just dug their own grave.

most posties work well over 40 hours just to make a decent wage.

it's nice to see everyone backing adam crozier, i mean he did a great job screwing the FA.

who would people like to win ?........the posties or that smug crozier tw&t ?

I don't have personal feelings about people winning, as I'm not involved or affected majorly by the strike. But from an objective view I think the workers need a bit of a reality check.

Not everyone wants the posties to lose mate

Its just that they are upset about not getting their dvd`s and cd`s and PC games, Adam Crozier is a smarmy ****, that has squirmed and twisted until he can get under a snakes belly.

    neither

I think the public just want a good postal and don't care who runs it.

Surely the posties must realise that they have to modernise the service if it's going to be competitive and stay afloat on its own two feet? How can a business be cost effective if the staff are paid even when they aren't working? It's bonkers. How is RM going to compete against private companies if so much of its income is invested in a final pension scheme that its competitors don't have?

I don't envy Adam Crozier or even particularly like him but I don't see that he has any other choice if the posties are going to have jobs in 5 or 10 years time (though of course some of them will not).

Surely better to stay in work as a postie on less favourable terms then to keep the terms you're on and find you haven't got a job in a year's time because your competitors are working for less and work more efficiently?

Unofficial strikes are not the way to win support from the public. A 2.5 pay increase, is in line with government targets for inflation. The inflation target will never be met unless 'public sector' worker have pay rises that match this target. However I can imaginge how the workers must feel and I'm not saying they should 'put up and shut up'.

don't think people care to be honest,

personally Ithink that there are lots ofpostie perks that the unions have won over decades and now you are allsquealing because the management are taking them away and bringing you into the real world of business.

the issue over changing your hours has been put up this week as a smoke screen. Last week you were all moaning about having to go back after finishing your round, but that gained no public sympathy so you've changed tack

the issue over pay is a none starter, you are not particulaly well paid but then again its not a particulaly skilled job.

Adam Crozier is the highest paid executive in a Government job

because thats who the owners of the Post Office are.
Crozier should take a pay cut also, he has not even turned up to ANY of the negotiations.

even if crozier worked for free

what real difference would his pay make to a company that's just lost £260m through a week of strikes?

    RE: neither

problem is that crozier signed a deal last year so that we MUST deliver our competitors mail, uk mail, TNT etc.

turns out we agreed for a 13p an item price deal.

but it cost 17p to deliver !

well done crozier.............we posties are now paying for his mistakes for the next 4 years.

that's one of the reasons we are losing money.

I can see your point of view Postie - we've problems getting hold of our birthday cards n letters etc .... but critical stuff is electronic these days; there's little life & death involved; and you're standing up for your principles! Good luck.
