Ok so there seems to be a bit of a storm in a tea cup brewing with regards the automated posting of a new thread subject and a link to Twitter and Facebook @:

    http://facebook.com/barnsleyfcbbs
    http://twitter.com/barnsleyfcnews

Personally, I can't see the issue with this other than Whitey's point in that it could fill your twitter or Facebook timelines quite quickly depending on how you have this configured.

Jay makes the point that he wasn't consulted. Perhaps it should have been mentioned before hand and this is the chance to re-address that!

This is a public site though, it does support RSS feeds, mobile viewing etc and gives people the ability to subscribe to these kinds of alerts however they want and is very much the Web 2.0 way. It's also spidered and cahced by lots of search engines so to be worrying about the title of a thread being posted on a social network is a little naive IMHO.

But it's over to you to decide, discuss etc.

Yes, why not? I don't have an issue with things being posted to Facebook and Twitter in fact giving the BBS to a bigger audience could be a good thing.

I've got no problems wi' it, I just don't understand the point?

If you 'like' on Facebook, you're probably a member here. Or at least a regular visitor. Same wi' Twitter.

I've already 'hidden' the page on Facebook 'cos it was just blocking up my Timeline.

I did wonder about that but I quite like seeing the new threads in my Facebook feed and with the way you can organise now with lists I dont find it a problem.

I can't be arsed wi 'em, so just hidden the page mate.

Each to their own, I just don't understand why you'd want to see what new posts have been posted on here on a different site to then come back here to view 'em?

Just had a thought on this. What will the wider world make of our dear Hemmsy? At least he is safely tucked away on here. Quarantined if you like.

    Amen to that.
Im not getting all hot and bothered, av got a new girlfriend for that. But I just found it quite annoying and intrusive on my tw@tter n facefcuk. I dont faff with the settings so the bbs was taking over.
I love this site, but I like to browse in my own time and kinda like the "ooh, lets see whats being said" part of visiting. And because Im in the early stages of a new relationship, Im on facefcuk a lot at the minute cos it dunt cost to msg her. So I was fed up of getting constant bbs updates... and it didnt help that 1 thread had 'thereev' in the title, and another was a double star **** nap by the lord himself. I mean, he and our other 'entertainer' are hardly a good advert for our forum, or are they?
    UNLIKE.. LoL

Nay, on the grounds that the unabated intrusion of social media must stop somewhere. I don't post enough to complain that my inane views are being redistributed without my permission, but I do get fed up with the constant linking of stuff on the web where site administrators assume that they can decide you are for a change until you object. Not just this, but more and more sites these days.

Let twitterers twitter, facebookers facebook, and the BBS can be the BBS. And Jay is right, it's damn rude not to ask first, 'naive' or not.

Sorry, just had to unfollow on twitter.

Too many needless tweets :( Now appears to be 30mins after a thread is created.

Gally are you ignoring this and hoping it goes away quietly?

Just wondering like! Thought I'd break my abstinence to draw it to peoples attention.
I'll crawl back in my hole again.
    Thanks.

Is it still happening? Quality, do a poll to find out the members opinions, then when it doesn't go the way you want just ignore it. And the swear filter is W@NK.
