Just been having a look at potential players we could sign on a free, considering there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity surrounding the club in the first week of the transfer window.

Jake Nicholson - Was last at Morton in Scotland. Good competition for midfield. We haven't got someone who can protect the back four at Championship standard and this lad can.

Gabriel Tamas - Last at CFR Cluj in Romania. 30 year old defender who would jump at the chance of a return to England. Great defender and wouldn't cost anything. Would play in The Championship and probably League 1 if the money was right. Would be a great partner with either Ramage or Cranie.

Kevin Phillips - Last at Crystal Palace. Was mentioned on here a few days ago. Knows where the net is and wouldn't turn down a move to The Championship at the age of 40. Would be a decent signing but would cost on wages and also only a deal until the end of the season as he's supposed to be retiring. Would make a real difference and could keep us up. Millwall bound to be interested now though.

Paul McKenna - Last at Hull City. Got a lot of Championship experience and would sort our midfield out with his organisational skills. Yes, he's 36 but sometimes the lack of responsibility and naivety in our midfield is worrying.

Pablo Ibanez - Last at Birmingham. Experienced centre half and knows how to command a defence.

Dariusz Dudka - Last at Birmingham. Wasn't there long and is regular in the Poland national side. The utility player we maybe need as he can play anywhere in defence and also in midfield. Wouldn't turn us down.

Marlon King - Last at Sheffield United. Controversial character to say the least. He's a forward and would give us a chance to shoot up the table as he's a proven Championship forward. Would you grit your teeth and have him to score goals as he would give us a good chance of keeping us up or wouldn't you want him anywhere near the side?

Yado Mambo - Last at Charlton. Young defender who would be a good player to have around the side if we go down. Only 22 years old and would be good backup but with a firesale expected if we go down, Mambo would be a good addition to have if we get relegated as he will be snapped up by the summer if we wait.

Andy Griffin - Experienced full back. We're in need of a right full back with Wiseman probably leaving and would give us experience along the back four.

Nicholas Bignall - Last at Reading. Was well liked at The Madejski until an injury put him back on the sidelines just as he broke through. Played throughout the Football League on loan and turned to be a fans favourite with the energy he has. Better version of Dagnall who can play up front and on the wing.

Going to have a look at contracted players later on but there are some good players available here.

I wouldn't take one of them, bar Phillips.

Gabriel Tamas, is he the lad who was at West Brom, he'd do a job for us I reckon. So would Phillips for 6 months. Maybe Andy Griffin.

Not that I'd give King the chance, but he's left Sheffield United over fitness issue's hasn't he? Can't see him getting another club in the football league now to be honest.

Paul McKenna, definitely. We'll need his special powers, to get us out the $hit we're in.
And obviously Kevin Phillips. No brainer. He might say no, but we should at least be making contact.

I hope we at least ask Phillips. He will say no but you don't ask you don't get. I suspect now that Ollie has gone to Millwall he will head there.

Phillips was on talk sport this morning, said he had just moved back to the midlands and was wanting a club within a hour of where he is and that several clubs had contacted him already, they were speculating forest and leicester but he wouldnt say who
