Wendy are in a hole with £30 million debt and struggling to find a buyer
One of the take over groups has pulled out of negotiations today

    But what about Barnsley ???
What would happen to Barnsley FC if Pat Cryne died today or tomorrow.
    We would be sunk
And PC is the first to admit this

So we need a buyer at Barnsley FC, or, we need someone investing in the club right now that will purchase the rest of the club if anything happens to PC

I think the most important news that comes out of the WELL, is not what player we have bought........its the structure of the board of directors............I would be much happier if one or two or maybe more directors were brought into the club.
The long term future of the club needs to be secure.

In my opinion what we need

is for the club to be self financing. We should not have to rely on anyone else. Having PC is fantastic and if he uses his money to buy players then brilliant, but the day to day running of the club should not be in the hands of a sugar daddy and then we will always be safe. If we're relying on handouts just to pay the bills then the club isn't being run correctly.

And if you want to call Deloitte, the number is..............................118118

But seriously, you're right ! On the other hand, every other football club is probably in the same boat !

Saying that we must be the poster club for all others that are heading into administration....
Just look at where we are now, back at the level that we have spent most of the time. Yes we had to go through the heartache and a few seasons in league 1. But we are now just about breaking even, there is a solid base and a great structure behind the club. Unlike the ***** at Elland road that saw administration as a way of writing all the debts of they didnt want to pay, we battled and sorted ourselves out.....

Clubs like Bournemouth, Luton etc must look as us a the model they want to follow!!!!!!!!!!!

Aren't all PC's family big Reds fans??

Agree with the other posts though. We shouldn't be looking to totally rely on 1 benefactor. Good as he has been, We need more than PC.

    I beg to differ somewhat....................

the old board shafted the numerous small debtors-we would have had a 10 point deduction if the rule was in force at the time-we were no better than Leeds

    I agree totally

Our entry into administration was a total abortion, which I still believe could have been avoided, and it shafted many small businesses in and around the Barnsley area.

    Added to the fact that

Had the 10 point penalty rule been in place we would have dropped to the 4th Division - I suspect it would have taken us even longer to recover if we had at all. Also the sole reason we survived was a cash injection from Patrick Cryne - not a perfect business strategy

    You're just being obtuse now.

We're trying to panic over something that hasn't happened. Behave.

    What if Luke Steele died?

Then we won't have signed anyone yet this summer!

If Luke Steele and Brian Howard died

Surely we could get some insurance money? Plus we would save on their wages so we could afford Kevin Phillips and Clinton Morrison

What a happy thread this is!

On the day the match for opening the "Phil O'Donnell Stand" at Motherwell was announced too.

But how many people actually knew that! I retract everything I said about people dying - sorry to offend anyone!
