A real statement of intent from the club. As many suspected very little has changed, now we need a replacement who can go straight in mid season and be as good. That seems unlikely but we can only hope.

Surprised. The only thing I can think of is that he really wanted to go back to the West Coast coupled with that he’s not maybe had as much playing time as he hoped recently.

He’s a loss without doubt, but we’ve played well enough without him though. McGheehan has probably taken his spot.

3 days in and we sell a player who was contracted untill 2021 for a 'undisclosed fee' some ambition here.

I’m pretty annoyed with this because he’ll be a big, big loss to us.

Let’s hope we have someone decent lined up like when we replaced Bradshaw with Woodrow.

    Wow!
    Just that at the moment.
Let's see who comes in and the reasons given.

Far from ideal for a promotion push though!

"We have made a significant profit on this transfer which brings long-term sustainability to the club"

This concerns me if I'm honest. It suggests to me we won't be getting a like for like replacement.

Can't see the logic in that if we paid a million for him.

    Hope Preston get relegated!

Good old Barnsley Fc. Same old story. Sell your best players when you need them most. Speaks volumes for new owners. Another head coach has his team sold from under him.

But you missed the rest of the quote:

“....and allows us to reinvest short-term in the squad”.

This is just one more myopic decision in a long history of myopic decisions. I'm getting seriously disillusioned with it all.

You're not going to achieve a like for like purchase if you're securing the future of the club AND reinvesting at the same time though are you??
