Luke's performances among others, helped enormously in keeping us up. For me, that point away at Forest was the crucial one. And make no mistake Luke earned us that point. As everyone, particularly the club, are fond of saying, relegation would have meant losing £6m in revenue and we began to budget accordingly for that eventuality. Shock horror!! We stay up! Great, now let's reward our heroic goalie by halving his salary as we planned to do anyway.

Would hardly do wonders for my self esteem, that. What happened to all this treating the players like a quality Championship team?

I also think it has escaped everyone's notice as well, that it was Luke who went up against the board, on camera and lobbied for Flitcroft's appointment following the Butch/SOD farce in January. Nice to see that loyalty and belief is honoured and reciprocated. Not. Practice watch you preach Flitcroft!!

Mr c half way through disc 1 talk about goosebumps wow...however I have to disagree with ur post (sorry) IMO I think he has cost us just as many as he has saved us! We had a game against derby after the forest game, he dropped a clanger and cost us points.I respect your opinion and I'm not gonna argue it like other people do. If he stays or goes I'm not really fussed. I believe Alnwick is more than capable of stepping up

I just thought on, this pickle he's got himself into is typical of the chaos Hill would have created with similar statements. I think many people, myself included, have listed Steele's shortcomings that have never been improved on, but this situation, involving as it does the team captain/senior pro, is totally outof ordef.

Don't forget Luke's **** kick against Hull that went straight to O'grady for the first goal. Goal of the season apparently.

Maybe Flicker is looking at the bigger picture?

Luke Steele will be the highest earner at BFC and maybe Flicker thinks he can get better value for money elsewhere, which means he stretches his overall players budget?

Whatever happens, we have to trust Flicker. Knowing what contracts to offer, what is the valuation of a player, when to sell, etc. are all key elements of being a manager. Look at Alex Ferguson, he's had to sell the likes of Beckham, Ronaldo, Jap Staam, etc. and these were not popular decisions at the time.

There's lots of positivity at BFC, so offering Steele a one year contract should not dilute the bigger picture.
