What annoys me most about the Howard situation is that this situation was forseeable. Not just in the Summer before the Summer before last, after he had an excellent season and helped keep us up.

That was the point he should have been offered a contract extension, but we sat on it and did nothing.

The same situation is going to happen with Muller. So BFC, learn from your mistakes and get a new deal on the table to Muller and then Anderson as soon as possible.

By accepting £500k for Howard, we have lost him for a season of a 3 year deal, so we value him at £1.5m

We should have been asking for £1m

Its terrible management in my opinion.

    Totally agree.

Nice move as well, you've got a player that won't even discuss a new contract apparently, so leave him as club captain.

    Aye, alright.

    do you think it's because.................

we don't have any real football experience both in the -albeit rather small-board and in the management team-all in their first "big" job

we perhaps could do with a chairman who has some footballing knowledge

Unless Davey has completely lost it, I'd guess there was some agreement in place between him and Howard.

"Give me one more season as captain, then leave for nowt next summer."

But then they had a bust up...

    All quite confusing.

It would be interesting to get Davey at a Trust meeting and for someone ask him.

We know that clubs came in for him in the summer, allegedly for more than £1.5m. The only other explanation I can think of is that Davey wanted to spite Howie and deny his move. Thats serious money to us.

You'll not ahve heard davey's expansive answers on Radio Sheff last night...

Sounded to me like a bloke totally unhappy with the situation. Kept referring back to 'the press release'.

He did what I'd have done had I been very unhappy my skipper was being allowed to leave,

    Seemed very much like..

he could not say anything else about the situation. You're not telling me that the player he made captain and who dug him out of the **** last season was suddenly no longer in his plans?!

B*ll*cks. Even Davey can't be that irrational?

More like it was not liked that Howard had the temerity to ask for more money

Nah, they won't be letting him leave against Davey's wishes.

Maybe Howard will be back at Oakwell if we lose tonight - Davey out instead?

    I've thought that all along.

Other than his first game I think Howard has started every game of Davey's when he's been available. He's spoke about him in glowing terms and then made him club captain when he took it off Reid.

Doesn't sound like a fallout with Davey to me....

Do we know other clubs came in?

I understood that no offers had been received for him.

Time will tell on that one...

I suppose if he's well respected he'll be able to get another coaching job pretty easily.

    Dave Hancock then?
