We'll dominate the first half and score from a set piece. Going into the second half LJ will shut up shop and go defensive which will backfire and we'll gift Colchester an easy goal. Towards the end of the match it will be end to end stuff and one of the sides will get a late winner. AH will run the show as always, Mawson will give the ball away at least 5 times, Watkins and/or Isgrove will miss a sitter, Pearson will be moaning at the referee all game, Winnall will be drifting around way out of position, Nyatanga will get all panicky, Toney will dive with no appeals for a foul and Johnson will make a baffling substitution.
We were 1-0 up at half time last season. Their manager made changes and Johnno lacked the tactical nouse to react. With better players. 2-2 all tomorrow as both teams are utter *****.
I think we'll lose. I'm basing this on what I've seen over the season. Sorry. But hopefully they'll perform like last weekend, but defend better. Eh Alfie?
The first time I saw us play Colchester was near the start of the 1972/73 season and we won 4-0. Even though that particular game was at Oakwell (we won the return at Layer Road 2-1), I'd definitely settle for a repeat scoreline. Truth be told, I'd happily settle for any victory.
My prediction is that the time for talking is over and now is the time for the manager and players to really start delivering on the hard luck story. A Hammill inspired Reds victory.
Difficult one to predict, Colchester are on a losing streak too but we seem to play a little better away from home, against is that the next game after a promising one we usually go flat like champagne the day after opening. COYR
2-0 to Them. Dull game we have the ball a lot but create nowt they score from a corner and a defensive mistake.
Hope I'm wrong but I can see LJ returning to the ultra cautious today, just because I think its in his nature, can see us going down by the odd goal 1-0. 2-1
A team with the best attacking player by a mile in the division in it cannot be ultra cautious as Hammill is always a threat.
A loss and a sacking. Terrible conditions today. No good for a team like us who at least try to play football (without necessarily achieving that) and we don't have the strength or the experience for a battle on a heavy pitch. It's that time of year when itchy trigger fingers can't resist, distance has been put between the board and the manager, so if we do lose I can see many people getting their Christmas wish.
It's hard to contemplate yet another defeat to a small club but anything is possible. I've only just discovered the Wigan full match replay on Player and have watched the first half this morning. At least we are playing another team in blue and white stripes today so maybe that is an omen? From what I have seen in the last few games, either live or on screen, I am confident that the players have now turned a corner and will not roll over if we go 1-0 down to Colchester. Best scenario is that we score early then get another after 25 minutes. Get the Essex natives restless and their team chasing the game. That will open up space for Hammill to run into and create even more havoc than he does without the space. I am just as confident of a 3-1 win as a 3-1 defeat! What joy following this team! Betway are offering 6/4 on a win for us so I have risked £2. Life in the fast lane
