I think you make a good point. He had bags of potential, Keef and Flicker can get that out of him and more. Just look at Vaz Te if we must compare (who has benefited from Keef unlike Hammill), similar age, position, circumstances as Cotterill.

It does seem we're either Barcelona in disguise on one hand or we'll be playing frickley in a few years time. You have to say though on balance, the positives far outweight the negatives. Ranger and Addison (not inclusing Park as he was ill for much of his month loan spell so don't want to be too harsh) have been the only poor signings for me to date but obviously its early days for the latest transfer window batch.

We are on a par with last year with a manager doing it on a reduced budget, that maybe a blessing in disguise for Hill because when we have had a settled midfield and defence and not chopped and changed, or had to, we gained our best run of results. Some times managers given to much leeway tinker too much in team selections. Ranger was fetched in when not really needed and that pushed Gray down the pecking order which with another forward may have caused unrest.

On the whole the football and entertainment value have been very good and when the system and its parts work they are a delight to watch, not so when they dont as results being wins or losses tells us.

The players fetched in were mostly unknown or unseen by fans (excepting odd matches and goal highlights) and posters on here acknowledge that and were suprised to see what they could produce yet they still preach that Hill has made them into better players without knowing or seeing very little of their past. By the way players who aren`t thick in the head will improve and pick things up from all managers.

So all in all I just would like to see more balance on here.

'We are on a par with last year'.........its nowt like last season

In my opinion we have had a chance of reaching the top 6 this season.
But the heart of the team has been ripped out - O'Brien, Butters injured.......Drinkwater, Addison have gone back to parent clubs...............Vaz Te sold.
If we had kept those players we may have pushed onto the top 6.

Plus we have had a load of other player brought in for next to nowt and all of them (of them that I have seen) have been good signings.

Its been a roller coaster season...........but the best season at the WELL for decades

We had a chance of reaching top six last season and we still have a chance this season.

Points wise and the comfort at this stage of the season is the same, last season at this point we were in 12th and the season prior to that 10th

Stats wise you may be right, but the feel good factor is certainly far superior this year.

Definately not the same feeling last season but on a par with Robins first 29 games in charge when taking over from Davey when we were bottom of the league to getting mid table and in with an outside shout at the play offs.
