Looks like we're doing our annual trip next week to maintain and tidy up. Haven't been for 2 years due to lockdown/COVID.

If anyone has anything they'd like to pass on to place at his place of rest on our 135th anniversary get in touch and we'll sort something.

Although, sadly, I have nothing to offer, may I place on record my appreciation and thanks to you and your friends for doing, and continuing to do, this thoroughly decent, wonderful work? You are all a credit, to yourselves, families, town & club.

The first year the grave was cleaned up I thought that was brilliant and showed that people cared and were willing to put the effort in.

Every year I hear about another visit to keep it looking good I'm honestly just blown away by the dedication.

This is probably the most singular thing that really unites the fans every year. Always one of the easiest decisions for the BFCST board to approve when allocating funding to making it happen.

Massive hats off to all those involved.

Well done to all those involved. Perhaps it marks a change in the fortunes of Barnsley Football Club too.

I can't remember the name even though I've been half a dozen times. But I never drive so sat nav always gets us there. It's on a scale that you wouldn't believe. Got its own road names within it and postcodes. However the original visitors ever located the plot is a miracle. I'll get some vids n pics posted post visit.

The guy who had the idea of restoring it wrote to the club and got the date he died and where he was buried, then to the cemetery to get the plot number. The cemetery told him who was responsible for the grave (a church in north London) and he then wrote to them and got permission to take over the upkeep of it. It was featured in one of the match day programmes in the PL season.

Rev Preedy buried in Islington Cemetery which is in East Finchley High Road,
In adjacent grave is buried Rev Preedy's great friend Dr Reginald Pearson who on hearing of the death of Rev Preedy was so overcome he died a few days later.

(Dr Pearson the father of Mary Norton who wrote the children's books - The Borrowers)

The cemetery is huge and without help from the Cemetery staff almost impossible to find a specific grave, If thinking of visiting phone Cemetery Office 020 7527 8300.
