The guy was whining about the referee and getting beaten by "the likes of Barnsley".

During our decade and half in the old second division Preston were scratting around in the lower leagues, they havent beaten two of the "big four" on their way to an FA Cup semi final, havent been in the premier league in the last decade and dont have heaps of cash and a massive fan base.

It amazes me how fans of very similar clubs can look upon each other in such a condescending way.

I know what youre saying but

i think PNE have dramatically underperformed over the best part of 25 years, they have reached the play off final twice since our Ipswich final, they have a larger fan base, it is a larger city, although they are very close to Bolton, Blackburn and the 2 manc and scouse sides so do have competition there

He should be jealous of our following yesterday. They were superb from start to finish.

Oh and probably jealous that we had Leon who was equally superb! :D

RE: I know what youre saying but

All I saw yesterday was a club very like us with a slightly larger crowd (swelled by 2500 reds fans). You cant under achieve for a quarter of a century mate. After that amount of time you have to admit that your not what you think you are.

    Like Newcastle!

Oh, but they don't admit it!

Perhaps "by the likes of Barnsley" he means a side in a relegation battle that only had 2 away wins in the league.

    **** em mate.

Makes it even more pleasurable to beat teams when they have that attitude. I really wanted to beat Preston yesterday because I thought their managers comments in the run up to the game always sounded a bit patronising/condascending. He seemed to have that "we should be beating teams like Barnsley" tone. Glad to ram it up em.

Ive got used to that attitude this season, every team

Morecambe have beaten have responded with the we should be beating teams like that line,
PNE do feel they are a bigger club, esp over last 8 seasons, like you say makes beating em all the better, esp as they are my nearly local team, certainly nearest league club (except Morecambe now lol)

The fact that Preston have had their best period since they were relegated from old div one (early 60s?) and their crowds are only slightly better than ours shows that they are quite a small club really

    Preston fans.....

My own personal experience of the blighters is that all three that i ave met on personal (ie; on a building site) term is that they are all arrogamt sods! They all seemed to expect Preston to be above the likes of little old Barnsley, even though we are the longest serving member in the Championship/Division Two. Obviously there are decent-minded Preston supporters out there.

What baffles me is the "we're better than them" syndrome? :pff Southampton fans are exactly of the same ilk.

to be fair to Southampton fans..

they did spend nigh on 30 years in the top division so might feel a bit like they are playing beneath their station

You can hardly compare PNE and Newcastle.

Yes you can understand it from Southampton fans for now but i would imagine they are becoming a bit more humble by the season.
