Auctioned to the highest bidder its easy on EA Sports Patrick, just think of a number and double it. Simples.
RE: Auctioned to the highest bidder All we have to do is "sell" the club.
Naive at best.

Im not renewing cos I dont like Davey and if we dont sign a load of top named players I'll bairn on and on and on and on.
RE: Im not renewing cos I dont like Davey There must have been a time when you hoped the club would show ambition - when did you start to see survival in the second tier has the height of success?? I'm not being facetious btw - I really would like to know
It came via a meeting with the ex-Chairman. Prior to that, S.M was a normal fan, capable of whinging about things he didn't like. All that's changed now. I suspect he'd even welcome back Sheron if Davey signed him.
Im still hopeful but being realistic, and with a little understanding of the financial realities of Championship football, I'm relaxed about where we finish providing we survive. League 1 would be a disaster. My hope is for mid table and a few decent days out, like the halcion days of the late 80's-early 90's. And each season, Davey improves as a manager, I'll admit, Im pinning my hopes on the stability card coming up trumps.
I wonder what could have been said? I met Gordon Shepherd once and found him to be very personable (and surprisingly candid). Didn't change my outlook on things though.
RE: Im not renewing cos I dont like Davey I don't think there's a fan on here that doesn't want success on either side of the argument - I just think that some pay more attention to the fact that while we were languishing in league 1, the clubs in the Championship got richer, and the stature of most of the clubs in The Championship changed too. There's exceptions such as Scunny for example, but financially the Championship is a lot more competitive than it was in 2002. Because of that, imho we need to get a bit of perspective as to where we are currently compared to other clubs. The amount of time we spent as a 2nd tier club previously is irrelevant.
Taking Blackpool as an example - who knows their financial clout ? Just because they are called Blackpool doesn't rule them out of outbidding other clubs for players. We showed last year with Hume's signing that when it comes down to it we can put the money there - but obviously not for every single player that we are linked with.

RE: Im still hopeful I agree being in Leage One would be disaster but I don't think you are giving enough credit for what happened in the 80s and 90s - 6th in 82 or 83, 7th in 89, 7th in 91, 6th in 95 before promotion. In those days lower mid table was a bad season. I saw survival in the first season back as success but since then I think we have to demand more. Particularly when Colchester, Swansea and Doncaster all finished higher than we have in their first season up.
I could've been a contender I could've been a someone Caught up in the rat race And feeling like a no one Could've been me in the papers With the money and the girls I could've been the heavyweight champion of the world You will be pleased to know my True Red Bond holder discount runs out this year.
It wasnt so much about money in the 80s/90s, I know its a cliche but football has moved on. Burnley were the exception to the rule, history is littered with sides that have gambled financially on promotion to/back to the Premiership and are now in financial difficulties. We need to progress, I agree, but I dont think we can just jump into the top 6 overnight without putting the future at risk and given a choice between Administration and a relegation battle, I know which I'd choose.
Oh ****! I agree with every word on one of Dirk's posts. Now I know I've lost all touch with reality!!
RE: Oh ****! I'd delete that if I were you. Windy the racist (popcorn) (wnkr) (asshole) will be along in a bit to have a go.
