My son in law is up for Christmas with two grandsons thirteen and eleven and half. Thought I would take them to Brum match Boxing Day two x £28 and two x £18 for lads plus three quid for ordering tickets for pick up £95 all in. ******* no chance. Good luck lads and have a good one on Boxing day will be watching at home on Sky Sports
Did you go to Wednesday game (£10 off there) and cheaper to buy in advance. Not sure how much I'd expect 2 adults 2 kids to be but a fair bit
Does the Wednesday discount only apply to advance tickets or can I just roll up with it, does anyone know?
We should probably follow what Watford do and have a £40 Family Ticket (2 Adults & 2 Juniors) for every home league match in the Family Area. At least then, although £40 is still steep for a family to pay out, it's more on par with other family outings/activities and it isn't pushing £100+
Ta mate. Do sympathise with Homer, the club should take an initiative. After all, it's the next generation of supporters and season ticket holders.
too true, unfortunately the pricing structure seems designed to punish those who couldn't or didn't but a season ticket.
£95 quid, then transport, maybe a bite to eat and a drink etc will take it up to £150 and if you went regular it would be twice a month or even twice in one week with a midweek game. £300 It's a no brainer..
There hasn't been a Family area for two seasons now - ever since the Chronicle stopped sponsoring it.
We complain about the adult ticket prices but when you think about it, the price for younger people is probably worse. I started going to Oakwell in about 1990 but it was with friends as none of my family have ever really been into football, can't remember the price of the ticket but although it was probably more than my pocket money, if I bugged my parents for a few days before they'd normally give me the money to go. I know you can't compare the cost directly due to inflation etc but I can't see many parents being happy to give their kids £18 + another tenner for food and the bus fare many times during the season. I'm sure they'd much rather buy them a game for their Xbox/Playstation which costs a similar amount and provides entertainment for a much longer period. It's not just us though, it's the state of football across the country, some club chairman are basically subsidising the ticket price in order to fill the ground up. I've said before that if we stuck to a lower ticket price (in the region of £15 and a lot cheaper for young 'ens) all the time and advertised it a lot more aggressively then we'd gradually get the attendances up towards the 15000 mark. The season tickets do present good value but not everyone can afford to shell out that amount of money in one hit, especially at a time when people traditionally go on holiday. I earn around double the minimum wage yet I would struggle to shell out on a season ticket, and can only realistically go to around 50% of homes game, I've actually been favouring away games though really as it feels like more of a day out.
