For the first time in many years I am unbelievably proud to be a Red. Winners at Wembley, Play Offs and on a run that I never thought that we could. The last time I felt this good being a Red was the run to the Premier League, and the Prem season itself. A young team, full of endeavour, under exceptional leadership by a local lad who shares our passion. Amazing to be a tarn fan and I'm proud as punch to be able to say it. You ******* Reds.
Immense pride! After feeling every emotion throughout the last couple of hours, pride just about sums up the final one. I love my team.
I was at rock bottom early this season and couldn't be arsed whether we won or lost. Heck and these lads have changed all that. What a brilliant season, pride is exactly the right word.
Me too mate, completely disenfranchised and unhappy with it all. A team that was bereft of any kind of leadership has been transformed into a group of players who also seem to share our love. Its ******* amazing. Not only do we have fight, but we play good football, with pace and drive. Thats all I want to watch, 11 lads giving it their all. Will we ever be the best team in the land? Not on your nelly but I am now looking forward to games and feeling content when I walk away from Oakwell or wherever. One hell of a journey in such a short space of time, but utterly mind blowing.
Re: Immense pride! Totally agree with your comments and those of Terry, too. What a great time to be a Barnsley fan.
Re: Immense pride! Earlier this season I was at my lowest point of being a Barnsley fan I felt disengaged, disenfranchised and cynical. I was treating trips to Oakwell as Inconvenient t breaks in a drinking session. The team has transformed themselves and the season. Playing with purpose attacking intent and no little skill. I'm as proud as I've ever been to be a Barnsley fan. If we had lost today I would have felt the same. We have given all we have to give and as fans that's all we ever ask. I look at lads like George Williams and Mark Roberts and see lads desperate to do well and prod to wear our shirt. I see the moth to our flames that is Hammill and see a lad wth troubles starting fresh and then the drive of Hourihane and passion of Sam. Firm not having a favourite player for years I pretty much love em all. You ******* reds.
On Christmas Day 2015 I opened gifts having completely fallen out of love with football and really couldn't care less about BFC either. What has happened since then is just bonkers, absolute beautiful bonkers. The title of this thread is spot on. And it feels fantastic. Sent from my SM-T710 using Tapatalk
Re: Immense pride! I've said the same lately about loving them all - we've not had such a likeable squad for years. They seem like such a decent bunch, and more importantly really do seem like a team, not a group of individuals. The spirit in the camp is incredible.
Re: Immense pride! Same from me, although I never fell out of love with BFC during our low spell this season, re the team spirit, I firstly became aware of the strong team bond at the end of the Walsall away game..you could see how that win really meant something....and yes, it was the same during the promotion season...thing with watching BFC is that during a game you can love football and hate it....both during the same match.....we have had some big lows over the last few years but some massive highs when there can be nothing better than being a Red......
Glad you've got it back ...fora small few the early season negativity was difficult to understand...the results weren't going our way and Johnsons tactics compounded the issue..but we had the youngest squad in football...which needed patience. I read much on here about no backbone and no heart but didn't recognise any of it...these lads have put a shift in every game ..certainly that I've seen this season , despite being bottom of the league we had been hammered by no-one..we've only lost a handful of games by 2 goals and only one by 3...I don't think any of the current top six can claim that..all except Wigan have lost by 4 at some time . We had a string of one goal defeats in the long losing run ..6 out of the eight , just narrow defeats... and only 6 all season by 2 goals and one by 3. People saying it was the worst football they had ever witnessed yet in most of those games we outshot the opposition...goals make opinions for many but to be honest we weren't always getting what we deserved. Cue the chairman stepping in (if rumours are true ) and giving the fans a more attacking brand of football backed also by some much needed experience... a couple of fortunate wins and there's a different air about the place and look where it's brought us. Sorry about the unstructured ramble..but the message is keep the faith...and I'm just glad we haven't lost the diehards.
