But I heard on Hallam earlier that we thought we'd wrapped up the signing of Arturo Lupoli on loan from arsenal until he went to derby and has scored 6 goals.

How is it possible for a club to go in for so many players yet come away with absolutly nothing if there is 'money available'.

Sorry but unless GS comes out and says what kind of money there is available then I cannot have any faith in him as chairman.

It is clear that somebody at the club is misleading the fans and we deserve to know whether it is the board of directors or the maangement team.

When clubs are loaning players out, they look at a wide range of things

    1. % of wage agreed to pay. (I.e. 70/30 split on 5K a week)
    2. Chances of 1st team football.
    3. Situation at the club. (I.e. Unlikely to send a player to a relagation battle if it is going to make him unmotivated).
    4. Chances of development at the club loaning them.

I remember a certain John Dennis once saying....

"if we said we had a warchest containing £x amount, then clubs will adapt prices of there players to suit that budget"

I know one or two have issues with JD, but this is one statement I beleive he was correct in saying.

The minute we say we have 1 million (EG only) available, then every player will suddenly cost double or worse.

So I can understand this, and we will never find out just how much is available

    Shame though,

They don't have to give a figure though, a simple 'money is available for transfer fee's if needed' (or something like that) would indicate to fans that we are talking real money and not just 16 year old conference players who are out of contract.

    Location will come into it

At least maybe..in terms of the fact a player is probably more likely to be loaned out to a local(ish) club so he wouldn't have to find a temporary home. Or is that B*ll*cks?!

I don't think we've had that excuse yet this season. Nearly had it last season with Howard though.

The club would put them up in a hotel, or is known for other players at the club to put them up!

Travelling time back to the loaning club is another factor.

From the point of another club, I could see there point in loaning us a player. What are the chances of them developing, been coached further?? not putting the club down, but our coaching setup isn't 'bright' when put on paper!

Also, look at Huddersfield. They have about 5 coaches along with manager and assistant manager.... Why is that?? Mainly because they are investing in the youngsters, and these youngsters are been pushed into the front line (1st team) very early in age.

Maybe its about time to approach redfearn or winnie, or both

Two people who would make excellent additions to the coaching staff, and redders has the bonus of having been part of oldhams promotion winning team alongside ritchie and holden

But does Redfearn have the experience required of coaching??? Fair play he needs to start somewhere, but the whole point is to move to the next stage so maybe someone with more experince.

    Have you considered............................................................

The managers role in bringing players to the club?

The manager has to enthuse and inspire players to come here.

Listen to AR's interviews would they motivate you to joining the club?

I think he's got the experience to coach. He has coached at scarborough, boston, halifax and (i think) rochdale). He was assistant manager to thompson at scarborough too and learned a lot about coaching and managing from his dad so has been involved in it in some way all his life.

Plus just having him at the club as a coach would be such an inspiration to some of the younger players.

I'd have him back like a shot. Maybe coaching four days a week and going around local schools once a week raising the profile of barnsley fc and hopefully helping to secure a fan base for the future.

    Yes actually

I think that AR has a hell of a lot to learn as a manager but one of his strong points is the feeling of togetherness that he instills in the team. If I was a player looking for a club and a manager showed that to me then the only thing that would stop me from joining that club would be a lack of ambition from the board and low wages being offered.

I know he's worked for other clubs in coaching capacity, and he's been in the game long enough. Just wondered if he's taken any coaching badges, etc?
