Would be nice if they went on sale this year and if, rather than saying that there hasnt been enough time in the last 9 months to sit down and discuss ticket prices, they actually announced the prices it would be a nice move. Other clubs have sold thousands already and all we can come up with is 'we havent a clue what we're charging but i doubt they're going up'.
Wolves Have Record Early Bird Sales Why don't we ever do an early bird deal? Even Huddersfield Town do. Saw earlier on the SSN ticket that Wigan Athletic have froze prices for next season at 250 quid. Not bad for premiership side that could be in Europe. Now lets see what we do.
We may very well do a great deal but the 'story' on the BBC website and announced by Don Rowing is very much a non story. All it says is that he hasnt discussed ticket prices with the chairman and owner yet but in his view they probably wont go up.
FFS when are they going to get prices sorted then! He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We won't increase prices, as yet I haven't had the chance to sit down with [chairman] Patrick Cryne to discuss that." He hasn't had the chance to sit down PC yet. What have they been pissing about at then when other clubs have been selling season tickets for a while.
Take norwich for example in exactly the same position as us yet while our board of directors havent even sat down and discussed ticket prices for next season yet Norwic have sold 19,000 season tickets. Over 16,000 of them had been sold before february at their cheaper 'early bird' price. They're now on their second early bird price out of four that they do. 19,000 * 200 (if every second ticket was a childs) is £3,800,000 they've got sat in the bank earning interest and are able to set a transfer budget for next season while barnsley have got nothing in the bank and will have to guess how many fans are going to turn up next year. And lets face it, with Davey in charge that figure could be as low as 7,000 fans a match.
ps Their prices didn't go up either, have been on sale since january and have a 12 month payment plan in place. They consulted with their fans a few months ago when coming up with prices and and had the forsight to set a structure for if they got relegated as well as if they stayed up meaning that they don't have to wait til the last game of the season to start chasing their tails like we do.
Couldn't have put it better myself Supertyke. Norwich are a good example for us, good Public relations and getting the fans opinions on the best soultions for all. Very rarely if at all as fans do we get consulted on what structure we would like to see in place. I persoanlly would like to see a payment scheme where you pay in 2/3 installments but even that is too compicated for our club to sort out!!
maybe if they plan on doing another 'footy for a fiver' matchday price next year - they could discount the equivalent saving from next years season ticket sales? so season ticket holders reap the same reward.
Norwich aren't the only ones, lots of clubs have had tickets on sale for a while now and we are in the minority that don't offer an 'early bird' discount or any kind of payment plan. It all comes down to just how much time and effort the club is willing to put in to making barnsley fc as attractive as possible to potential customers. Put in little effort and they'll get little return. Put in a lot of effort and who knows what sort of crowds we could get.
it kinda works both ways - some fans of other clubs who have an early bird reward scheme, have complained that in order to get the discount, they have to pledge their money before knowing which league they will be playing in. And some fans don't think that this is fair.
in which case they keep their money in their pocket and buy when they do know which league. we havent been given that option
a simple solution for the spread your payments brigade open a Reds Saver Account at Barnsley Building Society, pay £60 a month between now and August withdraw the money and buy your season ticket. Oh and 10% off at the club shop. Have that....
Much simpler than that. If you want to buy now for a discount regardless of what league you're in then buy now and get tickets cheaper. If you don't want to risk having to watch your team in league one then wait till you know before buying. Barnsley fans HAVE to wait as we have no option of 'risking it' now.
Say it will cost X amount if we stay up and Z amount if we go down. Simple way to get season tickets on sale quickly.
Supetyke the norwich fans money has not gone into their bank account , think you will find it will be used to pay of part of their 10 m debt , and administration has not yet been ruled out.
