RWB all round. An effective attacking LWB. Upfront. Very predictable really. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
We've been saying all this for weeks yet the club have been pretty impotent in addressing the problems. The silver lining, if there is one, is that it's still only the first week so time for us to sort it out.
Forget wing backs all together. What's wrong with playing 4-4-2 with 2 wingers with pace. Width and pace. all you need at this level and I think Pearson and Scowen in centre is strong enough. If away then play Hourihane or Crowley just behind a striker.
We've not got any wingers though. Got to play 3 in the middle or a diamond because of how unbalanced the squad is.
It's very clear that wide players are not on the agenda. I don't quite understand why we've brought in so many centre midfielders and then either don't pick them or play them out of position. I would say looking at the squad on paper we can comfortably field a pretty solid looking 4-5-1. I don't know why were experimenting with wing backs without the basic ingredients in the squad i.e. Any wing backs.
Agree it's clearly not on the agenda. My point was it is something which would actually make us a threat. Any team playing with pace and width, with a couple of good strikers (Winnall/Wilkinson/Smith?) would piss this league. So we decide to go with wing backs. Who either don't offer enough going forward or protect us defensively. A wing back has to be the most difficult position. They are doing the work of two players, often get doubled up on, and have to be the sides main attacking out balls. So Johnson gives that role to Smith and Bree. And today Scowen covers for Bree so we are weaker in centre and right back. Genuinely think if Johnson doesn't fix this quick we are going to be bottom half by Christmas.
